We're in the midst of a bit of a reorganisation here, as part of which I want to go wireless with a PC which has hitherto been on a wireless network. It seems that this one has no wi-fi thingy in it, so today's dumb question is what do I need to get to make this box run wirelessly? If it helps to know, it's about 4 years old and it runs W10.

Yep a USB wifi dongle would be the cheapest option. The other option would be a pci wifi card if you have the space in the desktop.

If you don't mind may I ask why you want to go wifi on the desktop?

It's only really used nowadays for mooching round the internets and admin, and if I move it to where I want it to go, I could do away with a long network cable. Printer is wi-fi anyhow.

Okay, that makes sense, otherwise I would have suggested some homeplugs.

Now dongled up and online on it without the network cable. Getting the printer to print from this like it does from the laptop looks like being fun though ...
