Hi everyone,

I have a question.

On my video card, I have the following ports:
- VGA
- Mini-DVI
- HDMI

Now, I have my main monitor connected via the VGA port so I only have the following 2 ports available:

- Mini-DVI
- HDMI

I have another monitor in my house that I don't use, and it has a VGA connection.

I'm just wondering, how can I connect this and make my system dual monitor? What sort of converters would I need?

Thanks.

As long as your graphics card supports dual monitor (probably does), a HDMI (or mini DVI) to VGA adapter will work fine. You can get one off ebay or amazon or where ever pretty cheap.

You really want to avoid VGA like a plague. So you can use HDMI and mini-DVI (is it dual link?). If you need an adapter have a look on amazon or ebay. 'Lindy' branded stuff is OK from experience.

Once again, avoid VGA.

What connections does the current monitor have. You can get DVI-HDMI cables that can be used either way (Amazon basics range is pretty good from personal experience)
I have a spare GPU kicking about that's not in use and has VGA/HDMI/DVI outputs. If it would suit your needs I can stick it in the post for you. (HD5450)

I personally would avoid adapters if I could help it but it all depends on what inputs the main monitor has I guess.

Err, he said that it's a VGA monitor he has...
And it's not something you want to avoid like the plague, it's just outdated.

He said it is connected via VGA, not that it doesn't have anything else. Anything half decent would have Hdmi or DVi these days
