Yes
Has anyone got such a setup running smoothly? Can you outline what you have and how you're doing it? I'm looking for a dual screen solution because I'm getting strained eyes on my laptop when I'm programming.

isn't the macbook pro thunderbolt only supported for dual monitors? I think we had this issue with a customer and the answer was two Apple thunderbolt 27" monitors linked, as you cannot directly drive two monitors from the laptop

Hi Neil. Yeah. I was look at the 24inch Dell ultra sharp screens. I'm just wondering how I'd connect them. I think i have a thunderbolt port and a hdmi port on the mac. I'm guessing I'll need an adapter of some sort. The 24inch seems quite affordable these days.

Yeah, everywhere I've seen though suggests that it can be done using 1 via the thunderbolt with adapters and one via hdmi.

really, thats a bit carp. considering the retina will be a higher native res than the dell, you'd think that the 2 DP ports could drive the 2 dell displays.

wouldnt advise the TB displays, they're totally unreliable.

the TB is also a DP so shouldnt need an adapter to a new dell if it already supports DP.

I'm not forking out for the TB displays. They are a bit overkill imo.

I'll see how I get on and will post my findings.

Just had a conversation with OWC in the states . ( They are a large Mac peripheral manufacturer and supplier) The Retina MacBook Pro will support I display per Thunderbolt port. So you should be able to drive one display fro each port. all you'll need is the appropriate mini display port adapter to connect to the monitor.

Here's a link to the OWC web site ( Mac Sales) for the adapters. However I'm sure you can get these in the UK.

If in doubt contact OWC direct. They operate a web chat service with some very knowledgeable guys ( and in my case gals )
