Hi guys,
I currently have a NIKON 3300 DSLR.

I am pretty new to photography, and tbh I don't really use it. I think it's just too big and a pain to take out sometimes.

I am going around Europe this month and it will be a pain to carry it around all the time.

I am going to sell it and buy a compact camera.

I want one that is really good and making videos. As well as sharp videos.
I want one where I can make decent videos like she does in this video. Where it focus's well

Skip it 5:44 what camera does she have?

I am quite fussy, I want a black camera and canon.
Money isn't a problem. But looking to spend £350ish

Thanks

RX100 is a fantastic bit of kit, and depending on which version you want there are some good bargains to be had

And there's an RX100 for sale in the classifieds :)

Yeah sorry my bad, i missed that you were new here and can't access the classifieds yet.

Is there a newer version then the RX100?

I want a camera where is blurs the background when videoing people, does that camera have that?

The camera has a 1.8 aperture, so yes, you'll get a shallow depth of field (and therefore background blur).

Thanks, so will the video quality be the same on the RX100 & RX100II?

Yea the Sony rx100 series are probably the best option if your more interested in video over picture.
If you want the IQ to be the same as your dslr then look at the Ricoh gr, this is a high quality compact camera with the same size sensor as your dslr (aps-c size :)).
It has a great following so just use google to look up s few blogs.
I have one myself and it's fantastic for still, however I've not used the video yet so can't comment.
This camera has some great film sims, all these snaps are un edited straight out of camera jpegs.
This site will compress so you won't see full res images but for a compact it's the best.

the sony nex/axxxx do good video too. the gr is a cracking little compact, its so tiny :D

sadly nearly every canon compact gets beaten by sony or some other brand.

its worth noting that for good video you need good sound so price in a external mic/recorder if you can

I use the Fuji X30 nowadays and my DSLR hasn't left it's bag in a lonnnng time. As well as great images, the X30 shots quality 1080/60 video with DSLR-like manual focusing. In addition, it has an external mic socket with volume controls. It is in your budget if you don't mind buying good condition used and is really worth looking into.

Hi guys, got myself a Sony RX100 ii yesterday!!

Seems really good!!

Just trying to get used to it. So many settings. Almost like a DSLR!

I'm tempted with either RX100mk3 or the LX100! Love the compacts again.
