I'm finding I'm taking my Canon 1DX out less and less, not because it doesn't take great photos. It's more the case that with the lenses it weighs a tonne (probably me getting old as well). I also purchased my current kit while doing some professional photography and could justify spending £2k+ on a body and £1k on a lens.

Now it's more of a hobby, I've been looking around at lightening the load. I spend most of my time doing action photography, bmx, dogs, airshows etc and some landscape (mostly night time) photography. Probably have a budget around £1500 for a body and £1000-1500 for some good lenses.

At the moment, from reading reviews and such, either the Fujifilm X-T4 or X-S10 are coming out tops, is there any other recommendations?

Sony A7c - small body but FF with the advantages that has for night work. Some lenses are also small and light, and there's a good range available.

I have used near on all Full frame mirrorless cameras and DSLR's. Now I use M43 stuff ( Olympus) and find its amazing value for money especially used. Nothing can match it for is small compact portability IMHO. It gets bad press usually from people who have never used it.

Absolutely love my Sony A7C, it's reignited my love of the hobby because I just take it everywhere. With a small prime on it'll go in my jacket pocket no problem. The kit zoom is pretty good and compact as well.

Used X-T3 + grip and extra batteries + XF 50-140 + XF 16-55 + couple of primes like a 35 or 27

that would be a good set up IMO

the 50-140 lens is one of the best zooms i ever used and i have owned ALOT of high end gear from all the big brands

Moved from Canon to Olympus never looked back like you weight became an issue, excellent pro lenses currently using OMD EM1X and a OMD-EM-1 Mark 3 Bought EM1X for £1400 new of Ebay with 2yr warranty mainly used with 100-400 and 1.4TC which gives a equivelent reach of 280-1120mm based on full frame

Another happy Olympus user, got rid of my Nikon gear as it was all too heavy and the Olympus is a joy to use. :)

I have the 1DX2, the R6 and the OMEm1 Mk3 [and a 5D4 oops]. They are all fabulous. If you have a bunch of FF glass, consider the R6 as it is so much lighter than the 1DX2. It might be worth doing the test drive to see what you think of the R6. If you want more Pixies, I also picked up an R3 and was amazed at how light it was. If youo don't mind not having FF, The Oly is has many great features, very light and looks great! A friend has jumped to Fuji from Canon for Fuji APSC and loves it. Decisions, decisions! I am working on downsizing my kit. Wish me luck... I am guessing long term luck.

I'm not someone that takes a lot of shots, but I have no hesitation recommending the Fuji S-X10, do checking into the AutoFocus though - not that I've seen anything bad so far but some say that its not the best - but then is that comparing against the very pricey Sonys?

While there are some excellent FF ML cameras, they seemed to be almost as heavy once you include the lenses. If you compromise and settle for half frame, you can get some significant weight reductions. I have a Canon 5D4 but this year have used a Sony A6600 with 18-135mm and 70-350mm. According to DX0 Mark the performance of the Sony is a little lower but I have been able to take plenty of excellent shots this year and have not yet reverted to using the Canon though I have kept it. I have taken, birds, butterflies and various animals, motor sports and an outside model portrait shoot. Plus throw in a few landscapes and street shots. Very fast focussing and frame speed are very helpful. Noise is not a serious issue and, if you use Topaz Denoise AI, you can cope with anything. The combination of Sony and 70-350 is about 1/3 the weight of my Canon 5D4 and 70-200mm f2.8. One criticism is that the screen/menus are much less friendly on the Sony.

About 4 years ago I felt exactly the same with my Nikon gear. I sold the lot and moved to Olympus Micro Four Thirds .
The capabilities are the same or in some cases better and the weight difference meant I still took my camera out!
I don't want to start a platform war but the weight for me counted more than any FF benefit. The next step I am sure will come as mobile phone camera systems get better and better for everything except the extreme photographic needs. Technology moves ever onwards.

From the research i have done.. mirrorless electronic shutter is useless for action.. (also lets in less light)

Lenses are the weight and real money.
FF is heavy and expensive ML or DSLR.

To save weight you need a smaller format.

A silly but useful comparison is between M43 now, and FF 10 years ago

M43 now beats the socks off FF 10 years ago. 10 years ago everyone looked up to the FF of the time and evangelised it.

Take photos. Enjoy taking photos. All the camera is is a tool.

PS Mirrorless is fantastic.

I switched from Canon full frame to Fuji a few years ago now, and am still pleased with the move.

For what you are shooting, I would also consider the X-T3, it is more photo orientated than the X-T4, and a bit cheaper. The main feature of the X-T4 over the X-T3 is IBIS, which isn't really much use for action photography (nor nighttime landscape, assuming you use a tripod for that).
