I made my own with a clip I purchased and some parachute cord. Cost was maybe $5 Canadian.

Oh, hand strap! 
I prefer a wrist strap as if I get jostled and lose my grip on the camera the strap around my wrist will save the camera from a fall.

I have this hand strap which is good although I don't use it much these days.............
edit - looked for it but couldn't find it.
It's a black leather one with red stitching made by 'Herringbone'

Looks like the sort of thing but they don't have any pics of it on the camera - does it look similar to this when in use?

Yes - sadly I can't find mine otherwise I'd stick it on and take a picture for you. I'm sure if you google it you will find an image of one attached though.
