I'm going to treat myself to a dslr camera.. at the moment my first choice is the canon D600.. Is this a good choice?

Yes the Canon 600D is a good starter body, the new 650D is now out so this might be worth a look as well, but the 650D isn't replacing the 600D - they are still producing the 600D at present.

You'll need lenses as well - the kit 18-55IS lens is worth getting as is the Canon 55-250IS lens, this will give you a good set up for starting out.

The Canon 50mm 1.8 is a great little lens and worth a look at if you fancy a fast prime...

Don't forget you'll need memory cards as well...
 
Yes try second hand dslr with kit lens maybe ( not too old) cause you will need to save as much as you can to spend on lens cause the lens matters alot
 
I've never used a 600D but I have had a 550D which is very similar and yes they are very good as a starter. However, I recently bought a 650D body for the wife as we have plenty of lenses and that is a very good starter camera. It has a great set of features, many of which are better than the 600D, while still in a similar sized body.

If you're happy buying on the web you can get a great deal here http://panamoz.com/index.php/digita...650d-with-canon-ef-s-18-55mm-is-ii-kit-1.html which will give you a very capable camera and a couple of lenses that will do almost everything you need to start with. If you pay by bank transfer, by contacting the supplier by email first, you can get a 5% reduction of the price as well meaning you can get the full kit for under £600 and well within your budget. They also have some great deals on the 600D as well if you check the site out.

Alternatively, you could look at second hand kit. I just swapped a 60D with a grip, extra battery and 16Gb card for a 7D and cash meaning my gear was valued at £500, so with a similar deal you would get an improved model body and have enough left for a decent lens for what you want to shoot.

As mentioned above a cheaper body with a better lens will give you better results. Then if you ever upgrade the body in the future you already have a good lens.

If you go into the 2nd hand market you can get a D7k for that price range. I got mine for £540 inc. delivery.
 
Really? I need info about this please. I wish I joined this forum before I got my 600d now upgrading for a d7000 cause 600d isn't what I need d7000 is what I need
 
I am currently weighing up what to buy, i am going to buy a second body and am looking at the 60d and the 600d , my question is is the 60d worth the extra money it commands?
 
Is there a reason you don't want the kit lens? If you already own lens go for 60d if not go for 600d and after you have build up your lens collecting upgrade for a 60d. People always go on about the dslr but the lens plays a very important part in photography.
 
Oh god yeah i am 100 percent behind that, in my eyes the lens plays more of a part to a degree.

G currently have

Sigma 150-500 which i love, i put sunset stuff in scenery, just shows a lens can make good images.
Canon 75-300
Canon 18-55
Sigma fisheye its a fixed focal length

So got some lens but want a slightly better camera as i do bird and motorsport too and could do with the extra few fps.

Just wondered if the 60 is a superior camera really
 
I would say always try first before you buy see how it is and don't make your decision based on pictures on flickr or people we're not all the same what is good for me could be rubbish to you. Try it out first
