DSLR Boot Camp

Could someone please explain a bit more on the course. How exactly does it work? Do they have excercises on the magazine ?

Just so you are aware in case you missed it...

That only applies to the direct debit option, though. If you make a one-off payment of £10 by credit/debit card, it only covers the six months that the course runs for.

I've just signed up for the bootcamp & ordered the magazines & I noted that the offer is until 4th March so people ought to do it asap

the flickr group is great.. I started the course last year but didnt finish, missed the deadline for the final project so am doing it again.. I found I got far more feedback and comments from those on flickr than on the photo answers galleries..

there is a spin off group also for general posting etc once it becomes course photos only in the main group http://www.flickr.com/groups/ppgeneral/

I've signed up to the course, the mag and the flickr group.

I am a total Rookie. I love taking photos but have about 3 weeks of DSLR ownership under my belt so am mad keen to get to grips with the thing. Bring it on!

Pretty much the same reason I've signed up. Indeed, bring it on!

Im in, but I will probably be behind everyone else, as I have a city and guilds to finish by end of april first

Just got signed up at 11:59 lol like to leave things to the last minute :)

Signed up too, looking forward to it, joined Flickr group too

Is that last year's flickr group?

I've signed up for the course but not the mag, I hope it's doable like that. If not I'll be nipping down to WH Smiths each month for a crafty scan-read. :naughty:

I'm looking forward to the challenge of shooting to imposed requirements and deadlines, something I've never done before.

It's not like a job though, if you don't do it there's no penalty.

Probably not the best attitude to go into this with...

you mean take pics of the pages :suspect:

No, just a quick scan read of the course material to put the Bootcamp activities into context if required. I'll probably end up buying a few issues to be honest but I'll pick and choose which ones - any more tutorials telling me what an aperture is and I'll seriously lose the plot! :bonk:

You can get all 6 issue's for £4! if you end up buying the odd issue you'll be paying more than that anyways

Yea, but that involves joining some money-back scheme and entering a subscription which I'll have to remember to cancel after 6 months.

I'll stick to buying the odd issue in the shop and if it works out more expensive then I'll consider that the cost of keeping things simple! :)

Like I say, don't believe the offer is still valid, but if it were...

It's not a subscription as such, at least not in the sense of having to remember to cancel it. It's a one-off debit/credit card payment for a six months subscription, so they have no way to get more money once that subscription has run out.

Besides, £10 for six issues is still a pretty good deal. I didn't join a money-back scheme and still consider that I got a good deal from it.
