I have been trying to get my own prints something like for years. They always come out too dark in the midtones, custome profiles of various papers have never worked that well IMO either. I last used Colourbox and a few others but finally sent an order to DSCL. Have been to collect them from the PO this morning and....

...well, i will never print my own again, they are exactly as per my monitor. So vibrant, sharp and the colours just pop. And the cost is just amazing value!

I am just so happy now :):):):):):):)
 
Started using them myself after the reviews on here. Cannot fault them at all. Everything has been perfect for me so far :).

Having seen the results and realising that the hassle of profiling etc for a mediocre result at best and rediculous costs [mainenance etc] I will not bother with my own again.

Just checked against a mate of mines B&W print from his R2880 who really is anal about it all and the difference is just amazing, staggering even. At last my prints actually do match my screen. I knew all along that on screen was correct as there really wasn't any variables i could change.

I got back a set yesterday using their colour profiles and luster paper and they are simply stunning, fantastic colours and clarity.
 
Count me in the DSCL fan club. As someone who doesn't print that often, for the price I think the results are fantastic, and I don't even bother using their colour profiles now. I also use the Lustre paper mostly.

My only beef is, I wish they had a built in option as part of their system to post prints directly to a client without the paper work (ie the bill).
 
I'm not sure what I'd do without them. Especially their prices.
 
Thumbs up from me too, been using them for a couple of years now and can't fault the quality or service.

Icing on the cake would be if they took Paypal
 
If they took paypal though, would that not make it more accessible to happy snappers?

By happy snappers I mean people with point and shoots ordering out of focus holiday snapshots of their feet and luggage at the airport, if you know what I mean?

As it is now, without the paypal option and the higher P&P cost, I imagibne that it's more appealing to pros and amateur photographers like people on here, who know a decent print when they see one. Not saying that most people can't tell a decent print, but we all know someone who would be more than happy to hang an out of focus, badly hued, snapshot on their wall.
 
They like happy snappers, their shop has 4 or 5 terminals to load your card onto. They probably don't use paypal because of the cost to them.
 
I want them to take paypal too, I emailed to ask and response was if there was demand for it they would use it, I too would be happy to add the extra 1% ?? to final bill to cover there costs. I suggest if you want paypal maybe a polite email asking for it would help.
 
Maybe a dumb question but why do you need paypal when they accept a debit card?

They do have this !! Ive done it a few times with large orders. You just have to add a note to the order :thumbs:

Me personally, My site basket is paypal cart so they hold all my funds, As it stands I have to withdraw to spend again

I had another order from them this morning. Brilliant as always. Great value and great quality. Arrived within 48 hours.
 
I always have to go and find the debit card lol. I too have my online sales go into my paypal account so would just make it easier instead of having to withdraw them first.

When I tried to upload a few to their order software they looked very flat/soft/dull colours so I didn't bother with the order. Is it normal for the previews on the order sfotware to look like that? They looked fine on my screen and I applied the DSCL profile.
 
Received my 1st order on Saturday ... ace quality and customer service ...
Will deffo be using them again ... :thumbs:

I would guess it is the ordering software that is misleading you you, I am sure it must be compressed slightly to allow for quick previews etc. Yous best bet is to order some and find out for yourself. There are many satisfied customers on here.
 
I was about to start a thread on them, but I searched :eek:

Just had 15 A3 prints come through, and what can I say, for the first time in a while, they actually look like they do in the screen. I think they are going to be the lab of choice from now one, Photobox was always slightly dark!

And I am impressed at how good 6 million pixels looks at A3 ;)

Thanks. I'll order a few test prints I think. The reason I didn't do that before is because I needed a lot of prints in a couple of days.
 
Just got my first A3 prints this morning, gob-smacked is about all I can really, absolutely brilliant, and only ordered Monday afternoon.
 
:1st: Another vote for DSCL. Got my first order from them a couple of weeks ago (a test order). Now I'm compiling my full order.

Quality is great on the Lustre paper
 
I havent ordered from them yet but will be soon.
I requested a calibration print and it arrived in the post, along with a profile cd, the very next day.
 
And they say word of mouth is the best means of marketing. It's certainly true in this case.

DSCL every time for me.
 
erm aren't you guys put off by DSCL delivery costs at min £3.25 even for one small print....I'm not saying Aldiprints are better for say 6X4" prints but they are cheaper and most of my 200 of JPGs uploaded were adjusted in Photoshop (and also different print sizes i.e. not standard) and they came out better in print, than viewed on a computer screen.
So with the special free offer inc....received 200@6X4" for £7.66 inc delivery.

You may be right regarding 'special offers' but I find that my larger prints especially school portraits where I am offering 12x8 & 16x12 etc, the packaging alone is worth the price of P&P they charge. Also I can pick up in store sometimes if I need them the same day.

I ordered my last set at 2:00pm on Tuesday and it was in my letterbox next morning..........brilliant service.
 
If I worked at DSCL I would be beside myself right now, well done guys.

Well I'm new to large prints these days as in ye old days they were very expensive so did my own B/W and colour. So unless some one has compared the same JPG for 10X12" prints from DSCL and Aldi photos (or any others) and compared prices, quality and delivery.....I'll have to find out myself.

The delivery charge, I admit, is my least favourite thing about DSCL! However, it's only a little more than some other places and the quality more than makes up for it.

I compared aldi, snapfish and DSCL if that's any help? Thread floating around in this section. Came to the conclusion that I'd use aldi for snapshot type shots and DSCL for everything proper. Aldi's service and printing is fantastic, I was seriously impressed, but DSCL is that bit better. Aldi's and DSCL's packages arrived on the same day too (the day after order) so really, Aldi are very good and I prefer them to Snapfish, photobox and kodak.
