Well, I guess that the title says it all. I was searching for, amongst other things, a camera strap and came across this site. I poked around a little and found that it looked pretty inviting and I signed up. So here I am.
So I suppose I should do the 'a little something about me' bit by way of an introduction, so here goes:
I'm an electrical engineer and got a nice, healthy bonus for babysitting some clients over the millennium (I told them that there wouldn't be a problem, but they didn't listen and insisted on giving me loads of cash), which I promptly spent on, among other things, a Fuji 602. Having had P&S cameras until then, I decided that I should learn a little bit extra about photography over and above my photographer's badge that I got with the Scouts sometime back in the Bronze Age. I then found the DPReview forums and hung around there for some time and let them talk me into getting a 300D when it came out.
I've upgraded a bit since then, having been through a few cameras and lenses, but I'm not any better as a photographer, though. I'm primarily a hobbyist, using photography as an excuse for days out away from my chores at home.
I've been hanging around DPChallenge and Tipsfromthetopfloor for a little while now and the more I see, the more I'm convinced that I can never produce the great images I see all around me, but I try to and enjoy doing so.
I'd better stop now before this becomes the longest introductory post ever.
