sounds like its the sensor if its only when your viewing pictures. have a look at one on your pc just to be sure. is it showing up on all the pictures, even short exposures and low ISO? blue pixels are quite a common thing if your doing long exposures, its due to heat build up on the sensor.
if its on the screen you'll notice it in the menus and live view too, but i dont think its covered under canons warranty.
Yeah if it was a year old or second hand or something I could deal with it. But three days...thats a bit harsh. Im calling Warehouse Express on Tuesday.
My 40D has the same fault. Stuck green pixel on the rear LCD. Sent it back, but Canon will only replace the screen if you have 2 or more failed pixels so I was told. Doesn't affect pictures, and considering I got it so cheap I can't really complain.
If they won't accept it's faulty for some reason (which I would seriously contest),you could always send it back under the distance selling regulations.. might cost you postage, but if you're not happy with the camera, it's better than having a camera you're not happy with
I know with monitors it quite often depends on the position and density of the stuck pixels, obviously it doesnt affect actual photo taking but it would significantly affect the 2nd hand value even though a single stuck pixel doesnt matter.
To me personally I wouldnt mind, it wouldnt annoy me but if it does annoy you there is no point keeping it as it will always be a niggling fault that will really start to annoy you.
Jessops price match Warehouse Express, I always do it, don't like Internet Shpping due to things like this happening, too much hassle sending it back! Oh and get rid, it will just constantly bug you.
I agree the problem is not likely to be a warranty issue unless you have a particularly nice retailer. I'll say the opposite to EdinburghGary though, I had a stuck pixel on the sensor of my 300D and while it annoyed me at first got used to it quickly enough. You have the camera for the photographs you can take with it and that stuck pixel does not affect it's ability at all.
I think with the amount of money spent buying it you are well within your rights to have it replaced or repaired. It is or was defective when you bought it even possibly a returned item since it did not have the UK plug according to your other thread. Something fishy about this camera methinks. Get you money back and buy locally if possible with price matching.
I am going to "try" and get this returned and another sent through. The fact that I had the UK plug missing and a dropped pixel just isnt good enough. Would you accept your brand new car with a scratch in the door? I dont think so.
So I am going to try and I shall update when WE are open on tuesday.
Again, another vote for just returning it under distance selling/'I changed my mind' regulations. It's legal, and since it's unlikely that they'll replace it for one pixel, it's your best bet. Plus, by the time you get a response from them, you could be outside the 7 day return period, and to use the technical term, screwed.
