Basically I'm a numpty, was doing a photoshoot outside (no wind) trusted my 430EXII on my lightstand then from nowhere a gust of wind came blew over my stand and now my flash won't fire. Is this sort of thing repairable or should I just learn from this and buy another? If its not repairable is it worth looking at an off brand flash? I don't usually skimp out on products (to save buying twice) but have heard good things about yongnuo? Would need ETTL as do nightclub work!

Cheers!

Get it fixed it will cost far less than a new one. A number of places do canon flash repairs.

Ouch, I hope the repair isn't too costly :)

Sadly, I wouldn't be sure that's true. My experience is that nothing is less than £100-£150 to get repaired by a Canon dealer. A possible route is to sell the broken flash on ebay as "faulty / spares" - if you describe the problem accurately you might be pleasantly surprised by how much someone that is willing to take the thing apart will pay for it! That should yield a good contribution towards a new one (and some shot bags for your light stand :-)

Rang a few repair companies and they all recommended I go direct to Canon. Canon quoted £130, but it could be more they said. Think you have the best option Greg, will probably just sell it and put the money towards a new one, or maybe even a second hand 430EXI

Yongnuo 565. You could get a couple plus triggers for the cost of the canon
