Dropped my Camera :(

I dropped my 7D yesterday :( I picked up my bag, not realising it was unzipped, and the camera bounced onto the floor. It had my new Sigma 17-50mm, attached along with a filter to protect the front element. While the filter shattered, there was no damage to the front element and the function of the camera. I have tested the AF on the lens and all seems fine.

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Just keep an eye on it, I dropped my 7D last year and everything seemed to work well enough. However, after a few times out with it, it started to miss focus and produce some very strange photos and also malfunctioned with some of my lenses. I ended up with £600 worth of damage to the AF system and PCB's unfortunately. Fortunately the insurance I had covered the costs and I got my 7D back in perfect condition. I hope you get away without any bother, I thought I had for a while.

I fell and dropped my 7D and Canon 70-300 last month. Everything seemed fine but after a further four days usage the 70-300 stopped working?!

I'd say give the front element a good clean with a rocket blower to try and remove any shards of filter glass that could scratch the front element. Don't use a cloth, or if you do, don't apply a ton of pressure as you might scratch the lens.
Front elements are a lot thicker and tougher than filters. I prefer to use the lens hood, but as you didn't say what type I'm just assuming it's a UV filter without a hood and not an ND grad / polarizing filter et al.

Hopefully there's no internal concussive damage to the body or lens, which would be my concern if it was a large drop.

Thank guys!

The first thing I did was remove the filter & clean using a light brush/blower combo. There are some scratches to the edge of the lens, but nothing on the actual element itself. I have noticed a prominent vignetting the focused at 17mm and it disappears when I zoom in and out again. Other than that, it seems ok.

Opinions?

Update

I've spent the last few hours playing with my 7D and on processing the RAW files, it would seem that even at 100ISO, I'm having an issue with serious noise and an inability to contrast colours.

Could this have been caused by dropping my camera?

Its hard to say, the photo you posted is a very low contrast scene which can seem to produce a lot of noise that's just not their, need some other examples under different lightning con :)

Monitor has been recalibrated I've updated Lightrooms to v5.3. Some of the issues appear to have gone away, but I'm not sure if this is down to my testing methods or the LR update.

When testing my Sigma 17-55mm on a subject which is 2 feet away, there is no noise or grain in the image on the camera or putting through LR. This was using the AF.

When using the same lens and AF but taking a landscape shot, there is slight noise & grain in the image.

If I take a picture of the same landscape (garden) and use manual, the effect is dramatically reduced and only appears in the more shaded parts of the image.

Would this be seen as a processing issue? There is nothing like this when zooming in on the image while it's still on the camera.

Looks like cameras can take a beating but like most blokes, it's the lens that hurts!!

Agree with simonblue's comment, it's definitely a sort of scene that will exaggerate noise a bit! Have a go with lots of different light conditions, natural and artificial. Also, make sure they're well exposed shots, anything even slightly under can punish you quite a bit with the 7D, it's one of the few (if not only) criticisms of mine!
