Hello, im new to this forum

Just got back from my honeymoon in Norway, Taking some pictures of the northern lights, had an accident at the north cape, the wind blew my tripod over with my 60D attached, the 60D survived apart from a dirty sensor and eye piece. Easily sorted, the lens a EF 28 - 135 mm IS USM did not survive so well, had a look inside and there is something wobbling inside, the auto focusing is not correct either, Whilst i was in Edinburgh yesterday i took it to JP camera repair. He quoted me £125 for a new aperture unit, clean and reset zoom, focusing, aperture linkage and is.

I was thinking of just getting a second hand one as a replacement and selling the broken as spares and repairs, or is there anywhere else that is recommended for repair? i am based near Birmingham.

Any Help appreciated.

Richard

Lehmans looked at the last batch of work lenses I sent in to Canon UK - service was excellent, despite the fact the lenses didn't get repaired in the end (cost more than a new lens). They were polite, communication was great and they were quick.

We'd charge around 100 as the aperture unit is around 30 on its own
