Drone hits BA plane at Heathrow

I obviously don't know how often pilots let the planes land themselves, but from the experiences I had as a jump seat passenger whilst working for an airline, the only time I ever recall a pilot using the automated system was when we were landing at Stansted Airport in heavy fog one evening on a flight back from Venice. Every other flight (out of literally hundreds), I always witness the pilots landing the plane themselves.

As I said, I don't know what the situation is like now, it was some 15 years since I worked there.

Rolls Royce in Derby used to test Trent engines by lobbing chickens in whilst they were running. The fixed catapult for doing it was quite impressive.
Far more engines survive bird strikes in flight than are taken out by them.

One of the lads I was at school with worked on that. I always thought it was one of the best jobs ever

How many chickens did the chicken chucker Chuck...

It gets better.
To really test the engines they sometimes used frozen chickens! :D

Trust me on the 3 warm days a year we have... The smell of engrained chicken bits is not worth it

Piri Piri.....you know it makes sense. :D

So you've been to Nando's then?

it seems, for whatever reason, drone owners and flyers are being vilified at the moment.
Typical mentality these days TBH, don't like it? don't understand it? ( or even can't afford it? )
Try and make a case against it, and then call for it to be banned!
