Yes
We are soon off to Spain for the first time in years, and I have no idea if we still need to have an IDP ?

Anyone able to advise ?

Thanks !

Spain Pink format or photocard UK licence accepted but International Driving Permit required if green licence held.

I have an old pink paper DL and didn't need an IDL last year.

Just what it says on the lists i have read.

Thought they had been done away with last year and replaced by the photo I.d plastic licence ,so your probably driving illegally ,feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Yep I was right the paper licence was abolished June 2015 ,unless you live in Northern Ireland

You don't have to replace it.
He's not driving illegally.

"If none of these apply and your paper licence is still valid, you don’t need to exchange it for a photocard version"

https://www.gov.uk/exchange-paper-driving-licence

A personal choice then, it will have to be replaced by a plastic one on his 70th birthday though when he has to renew

Or if he moves or wants any points removed (or has some added?)

Indeed. So if I stay where I am and keep a clean license then I have another 15 years to enjoy this pink paper one over a new plastic jobbie. :D

According to the AA (Automobile Assosciation NOT Alcoholics Anonymous) the old Green Paper licence is valid for Spain.
