Drive space mysteriously decreasing

Check to see you aren't retaining copies of deleted backup files. Cobian makes a copy of files that are no longer backed up until you delete the backup. Could be doing the same thing.

The only backups I make are Macrium images and they're not on C: drive.

Never heard of Cobian.

Interesting. I had never heard of macrium so I checked it out. Currently I use Cobian for daily backups and windows disk image (built in to windows) to make a clone of the main drive once a week.

Do you use macrium daily or how often? How much are you backing up?

Which version do you use?

Thank you :)
Graham.

I use Macrium Reflect Standard Edition v5 - I upgraded from the Free Edition.

I use it to backup the whole of C: drive as an image. C: is a 480GB SSD with around 60GB used. The resulting image files are around 34GB - this is for a full backup (not incremental or differential).

I make a backup before I install anything new or make any real change. This takes around 9 minutes. It takes about the same to restore C: to any image. I usually end up making a new image every day or every two days. I keep them until I'm sure there are no problems. I've currently got 49 images on D: drive - they total 1.12TB but include everything right back to a fresh install of Windows.

Macrium is fast and ultra reliable - I'd recommend it to anyone. It never puts a foot wrong (unless you start changing the physical positions of your drives). It will do cloning as well if you need it.
