Hi, wonder if someone would be able to offer some advice.

I've started using Canon's DPP software and and really liking it's RAW facilities but seem to be having problems when converting to JPEG. The photo's look spot on when viewed in RAW in DPP but when I then save (using the 'convert and save' option) they are looking really soft and loosing the punch that they had.

What am I doing wrong? I'm obviously missing something.

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you're viewing the JPGs in DPP there is a setting in options to determine the way the images are displayed. You might have it set to display at low res.

If you're viewing the JPGs in a different program and still seeing them soft then you might be compressing them too much when you convert them. There's a setting in the conversion window to tell the program what level of compression you want to use.

Good luck - let me know if you still have problems.

Thanks Andy.

The options that you mention are set correctly. I think it's probably more down to the fact that I was viewing the JPEGs in Windows Picture and Fax viewer. I guess it's just a poor application for displaying the images but it's a shame as that is the software that others will be using when viewing the photo's.
