DPOTY 2023 - Chat Thread

I still need to edit mine

I took it a few weeks ago. Then went overnight to Pen y Fan so had a full 180° panoramic Milky Way arch to edit as well as some other stuff. Then I went and shot another arch panorama last Saturday night. Then I shot another last night.....:ROFLMAO: Plus the "usual" amount of shooting!

Really cutting it fine this month...

I need to get my thinking cap on for "Crafted by nature..."

Well, May's results are in, and it's hats off to @ancient_mariner the runaway leader of the pack this month, with @Peter123 and @ShinySideUp chasing hard. The running total leader is @Nostromo who has been putting in a consistently strong effort, but @Norkie and @ancient_mariner are clearly getting some momentum behind them. However there's a strong field of solid performers still running, and some new additions this month, @moggi1964 in particular, that we need to keep an eye on. Those of us at the bottom of the table (including notably Yours Truly) just need to keep plugging away at it, and take some ideas away from the top scorers each month to try to work out what makes them so popular (apart from just clearly good execution of their photography).
(Having some issues uploading the table, so bear with me!)

Well done Toni, excellent work ;)

I have one in the bag but it was extremely bright and although I dialled down the exposure I’m not sure it looks as good as it could.
I’ll see what this weekend throws up.

I know what I want to do, but have not yet had opportunity.

Went out today (and a lot of other days) but largely drawn a blank. I have so many ideas about what is created by nature only to realise that to a large extent, man has had a lot to do with them. A simple set of rocks or trees and I find that the rocks are a result of quarrying and the trees were planted deliberately. There is a slate cavern near here, man-made, an edifice on top of a cliff, assembled by man, Even the shot I'm probably going to choose has been indirectly created by a human machine (although it would look similar if the machine hadn't done it).

Yes, a lot to think about this month.

Edit: And I've just refreshed my memory as to next month's theme, so that blows my entry for this month out of the 'water'; probably going to use it anyway and think of something else for July.

I may struggle with this, not because I don't have any ideas, but because I am stuck sitting on the sofa with debilitating back spasms. I could be like this for awhile.
Sorry to hear, hope it passes soon :)

Might give the rest of us a chance to catch up then, silver linings!

Only kidding (mostly), hope things calm down quickly as my winning would be a hollow victory without you in it. :):):)

I've got one last weekend. But it's still on the memory card so.... Will keep a look out for some others just incase as it wasn't the idea time of day really. I do like to try to keep my images relevant and 'good' imo - last months urban I made sure I composed okay, tatty council bin, high rise flats, repairs to the tarmac road, van parked on the pavement/entrance, painted signs/writing on the road, tatty concrete bollards, rusty council railings overgrown with hedges.... I even went there in golden hour for some nice sidelight :)

It appears I was on my own though.. :) :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Well I've got one in the 'Bank'. Although I'm not entirely happy with it. Still a few days to go though :)

Likewise, have 3 candidates, happy with none of them as an entry.

Well, I've posted one. I've looked and looked and wracked my brains but I got nothin' of note. It's a 'nice' abstract image, if you like that sort of thing. Roll on July.
