weekly Downton Mini's '52 for 2017 I'm Back Again! Weeks 1, 3 and 7 Added

The second image of the rocks is quite fascinating, but I do agree with the comments on "whole"

Second mineral for me too Mark, lovely colours and textures

Mineral #2 is it for me! Nice details of moss in the rock.

Whole is a good idea, but I think there's a better composition in it.

Hi Mark

Smooth says splinters if you're not careful :D

Mineral #2 is a beaut ... never saw anything like it. Oozes colour and texture.

Whole ... creative nut placement.

#2 Mineral for me too Mark, love those striations :D

Whole doesn't do it for me I'm afraid. I'm drawn to the creases in the background and the slightly warped perspective of the wooden board. It needs fewer element I think....sorry :exit:

PS :welcome: back, glad you are still here :D

Smooth - fits the theme, but not the most exciting of images sadly.

Mineral - I find the second image much more interesting to look at, lots of detail and colours to look at.

Whole - it does fit the theme, I also like the warmer feel of the first image. I do think however there is a much better composition to be had.

Hey Mark,

Smooth - As you say, perhaps not one of your best, but not a bad PABD really and it gets the theme out of the way. Nothing really wrong with the shot, but it was a hard theme to be inspired by.

Mineral - I'm going with the crowd, #2. I think it's because of the colour and that the formation is so folded.

Whole - A great effort combining the chocolate bar with hazel nuts. I prefer the crop of the first, the second seems to be floating more.

Thanks for all your comments guys sorry I've been so bad a commenting on your images work is manic and I've had so much going on hopefully it has calmed down a bit now just waiting to collect our new car now and hopefully I will have more time!

Any way enough excuses I have managed to get 3 more weeks shot just uploading them to Flickr and I can post them one or 2 may be slight (read massive shoehorns!!)

:agree: ... would be good if they allowed you to take then out from behind the glass for a proper play. :)

Hairy works well and Structure2 I like. (y)

Hi Mark,
A bit of a catch up there...
A good set from Harry Potter World.
Of the 5, Structure 2 is my favourite, it's the most grounded in it's context and I also really like the blue hues.
No2 for me is Hairy - The Monster book of Monsters. Again, it's because it looks in context. The grain suits it well too :)
It's a bit of a shame about the reflections on Faulkes, but not much you can do about that easily.

Hi Mark. Nice to have you back for another 52 :) A 'mini' catch up from me on the comments, here goes....

Mineral - Definitely the second shot. Blows the first out of the water for colour and sharpness. Well taken.
Whole - First of the two, though neither stand out for me. First is a tad warmer as has been said, but I think.
Structure - Quidditch stadium is a good shot and nicely on theme. Can't imagine others will produce the same image and it certainly works well in B&W (the colour of the bridge shot is pretty off putting).

ps some good shots of the rest of the Harry Potter Studios. The lighting in there and glass cases are challenging to say the least!

Cheers

Ian

That looks a really interesting place to visit Mark, they all work well for the theme's, definitely not too much shoehorning. My faves are Order ...that's a very spooky looking bird, and Hairy ...I love those books ...perfect choice in the b&w.

Thanks everyone I'm still here hoping to catch up over the next week or so I've got my routine in the camera just need time to get it edited!
