Downloading photos to iPad

My grandson has some photos on his school website. Is there any way I can download them on to my iPad 2

when you view the images in safari on the website, you should be able to tap and hold on the image and then select copy, then paste the image into the photos section on the ipad if the save image option doesn't show up.

Am I thinking too obliquely that he (grandson) could just share 'em with gramps via mail/similar and then gramps would end up with the full size original file rather than a web-rendering of it...?

Another way is To Get the pic up full screen on the iPad and then press home and sleep buttons at same time to take a screenshot of the image
