Have a look at
www.dpreview.com they have tested many of these P+S cameras and reviews are good reading. You have a wide choice available but I would write down a few "must haves" first regarding zoom length required, iso performance, stabilisation, low light lens, RAW capability etc.
My only real advice would to buy one with as big a sensor as possible. This is where most of the image quality comes from and get one that will take RAW.
