Downgrading from Full Frame to 1inch

Hi everyone,

I purchased a Sony A7 mk II with a G Master 24-70 lens several years ago for my outdoor adventures. Initially, I took it with me on my major backpacking trips and in another car trips. However, due to the size I have been using less and less, in the past three years I have used it only a handful of times. It is just too much hassle to carry a full frame camera and a tripod all day long. I am seriously thinking about downgrading to something like the Sony RX100. As portability is very important to me, I think I am willing to sacrifice the quality (I hope I'm not going to regret it).
My question would be the following:
How much can I get for my full frame camera set and what's the best place to sell it?
-Sony A7 mk II
-Sony 24-70mm G-Master Lens
-Manfrotto Befree Tripod
-Camera bag and a couple of Hoya circular filters

Everything is in excellent condition.

FWIW

If you want cash/money in the bank, then MPB.....you can get an online quote.

If you are wanting to part exchange then WEX or LCE (London Camera Exchange) worth asking.

But AFAIK none of the above companies would be interested in anything other than the body & lens!
 
I'd honestly try selling on here - the lens is very desirable and a lot of Sony users here. Same with the body. I'd keep the bag and tripod as you might need a tripod down the line and you'll need to carry your smaller rig in something.

as a new member you won’t have access to the classifieds until a specific time and number of posts (25?). I can’t remember the time limit but it was several weeks. Also don’t spam posts to get to 25 quickly as otherwise you will likely never get access as you will be blacklisted (classifieds as a benefit for members to trade between themselves but have to some safety points in place to stop people who will take advantage of members/scam them).

To be honest classifieds aren’t the same as they once were. Expect to be knocked down and price pointed against grey sellers. Stuff can either go very quickly or sit there with no interest for a while. if you’re wanting cash go with MPB. If you’re part exchanging go with WEX as I’ve found them to be very good.


I know where you coming from with feeling you’re carrying too much kit (I’m looking at reducing my kit to camera/lens/small tripod as I’ve carried far too much previously). If camera and lens (thats a big heavy lens) with tripod is too much have you thought of a high quality phone as the cameras on them are starting to get pretty good. You’d always have it on you which is a plus point. the downside is that it probably doesn’t feel like photography compared to something like the rx100.

That’s a good point that I‘d forgotten about as their list is usually quite limited. I wasn’t expecting the A7 II to be on the list but the 24-70 f2.8 not to be. I’d have expected it to be the other way around but I guess it’s what sells best.

I sold my 12 month old A7ii body for £500 this week on gumtree.
It was in excellent condition.
MPB offered me £450.
I offered it on here with extra batteries and a charger for £525 inc special delivery but had zero interest.
Had 3 people on gumtree interested and sold to the first one that came to see it.

I find its pretty much bargain basement time on here these days, not that I'm complaining, but whilst I will offer items I have for sale here, I know that they'll likely be sold to MPB/WEX or eBay.
 
Thank you for your help guys. I will put it up today or tomorrow on Gumtree, Facebook marketplace and eBay perhaps.
