Hi,

I hope someone here can help and please forgive my ignorance in not knowing the solution already!

I was wondering if there was any product out there that would let me mount two items to the tripod screw on the bottom of my camera (Canon EOS 550d). Basically I'd like to be able to have a tripod quick release plate and a hand strap (which uses a screw to attach to the base of the camera) both attached permanently.

As I have arthritis in my right wrist, having a hand strap makes holding the camera a lot less risky and I like to be able to mount to my tripod or monopod without endlessly unscrewing/re-screwing things!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best,

Simon

Sounds like you would benefit from something I have for my camera

It's basically a quick release plate for my tripod, that also has a loop which can take some form of strap. It would, hoever, mean switching your tripod/monopod to the Arca style quick release system as I have not seen them available for other mounts.

You see it has the loop in the place to mount a hand strap there...

A suitable sized strip of thinnish stainless steel with a slot in one end for a strap and a 6mm (or 1/4") hole near the other (looking at my Manfrotto QR plate, 20mm [3/4"] from the end). this thin plate could then be attached between the QR plate and the camera body using the QR plate's mounting screw (a little non slip material would keep it all in place) through the hole. If the slot isn't suitable for the strap you want to use, use a longer strip of stainless and drill through, securing the strap with a 1/4" BSW (Whitworth) nut.
