Double Camera Strap

hmmm looks good, im not sure if i would want to attach a strap to my lens and camera at the same time though. sure it must be possible to put different stress on one or the other, then putting stress on the lens mount.

I think it was just showing that you could put it on either wasnt it? Can you buy these in the UK?

After damn near strangling myself with the stock nikon strap I might just order that! Looks sweet.

It appears they are shipping to the UK for $12 shipping which isn't too bad.

Group buy? If there is enough interest and someone good at organising this.. and we can get the price right.. i'd be up for one.

Yeah - just order from their website. I bought a strap from them a few weeks ago (the single, not the double). Pretty quick delivery seeing as it was from the US - a week or so.

What were the fees like, delivery and import tax?

I think I got stung an extra £13 import tax - that's always a lottery though - sometimes you do sometimes you don't.

Its a fantastic piece of kit. Very well thought out design and A1 quality.

Very tempted, I need a solution to carrying two bodies at once.. just been using the normal straps for years and it could do with improving. I find these things kinda expensive but might be worth the invest.

I think it is trying to demonstrate that the strap can be secured to the camera at either the lens tripod mount OR body mount. With some lenses being heavier than the bodies, using the lens tripod mount actually reduces the strain on the lens/body mounting point.

I have the single strap and also got stung for the £13.

It's good but a bit expensive ... The double strap price is just taking the micky imo.

There have been a bunch of DIY solutions for this btw, out of curiousity you may want to have a look at these links (the article is in German but that shouldn't matter...)

Well I've been looking at a 2 strap solution for a while for events so I've just ordered one - free postage on the Double at the moment.

Not sure I'd use it for weddings though

Hi Simon, Can I ask why you wouldn't use it for weddings?

Conceptually it's great but I can't help but think that when lowering the camera the way it works you're opening yourself up for smacking the front end of the lens off nearby objects.

It does look like a nifty idea especially if it prevents your camera from swinging like a pendulum from your shoulder when moving about.

Looks an interesting solution to a common motorsport tog's problems.

Only two things I can think of:

1) Not sure how fast I could "quick draw" the one on my left hand side (just going through the motions that seems a little awkward to me?)

2) I'm really not sure how it would cope if you had some whacking great 300/400 2.8 lens on one body and a 70-200 2.8 on the other (a typical motorsport "loadout")

I notice their video shows two relatively small bits of glass :D

Simple really I think the strap looks like gun webbing and I don't think it would look right with a suit and tie. Unless you consider yourself as a Close Quarter Protection specialist.

I'll bring mine along to the Ship on Monday - you can have a play. Lee's got one too.

You could go really James Bond and wear it under your jacket! Wouldn't get in the way of the cameras...

After partially destoying two Nikon camera straps last year in Iraq by threading them through carabiners attached to my body-armour (the material wears out from the constant chafing on the metal clips), something like this might be useful...I'd probably have to 'customise' it a little to fit over Osprey though...
I think an email or two is in order...

They posted it Wednesday,I`ll let you know when it lands.

As you were..........;)

i have had one for over 6 months and its great!

i used one in vegas and carried a d300 and 24-70mm for 8hrs / day for 10 days and not sore shoulders! very easy to walk with as long as the camera sits on your hip

Because the strap is mounted quite near to the camera body on the lens I don't think it would be a problem, if it were fixed near the other end of the lens then it probably would cause some sort of leverage type forces, especially on something like a bigma.

Theres an earlier thread on this strap, HERE

And if you read down almost to the end, Graham Gott shows you how to make your own!

Got mine today, shipping took about a week, was lucky and it came with no import tax. It's a pretty nifty little strap, well made and all. Is it worth 54$? Not sure, will see next week at a wedding... it is definitely a good idea though.
If nothing else I can now at least run around, quick drawing my camera making fake shutter noises :p

My concern is if you have your camera hanging behind your back One cut with a knife and the thief has your kit. With normal straps your kit is in front of you at all times

Nope, the camera hangs on your hip.

Got mine Wednesday, yet to try it in anger ,will do on Sunday.

I probably wouldn't use this strap in a crowd of people, partially because what you are saying but also because the camer is dangling from your side and to some degree bumping into your hips when you're walking. Only a matter of time until you would be entangled in some womens handbag or picking up the pieces after crashing into a rubbish bin or something. But it is great for moving in open spaces (so far at least) and if you want quick access to your camera but also want your hands free and and not have that 30cm phallus protrude from your belly.
Not sure how well it holds up if you have the camera fully loaded with a long lens and flashgun. Will see and report.

Increase the excitement, put a cordless drill on it and pretend to be James Bond...
