Dorset Meet?

I should be staying over, don't know about everybody else.

My plan was to get to kimmeridge for about 1pm with Hoodi. Shoot the place til sunset, wander to either poole or weymouth to a pub/b&b (will get a list for tommoz, workin at the mo) up early for sunrise (7am) to get to Durdle door or the isle of purbeck for some more shots then weymouth for lunch and portland bill for sunset then home.

If people want to suggest other locations etc then feel free.

Can we have a list of definite attendeeds also please!

Lookin forward to this, should be sweeeeeeeeeeet!

Unfortunately I have to work over the next couple of weekends so won't be able to pop along. Hopefully next time though.

Make sure you all have a good time, and post your results for me to feel very jealous over.

Rob

I'll try Rob...lol. Next time fella.

:naughty:
Oh, and come on girls, your letting your side down...Yes your going to have to wear unappealing coats and hats..And possibly big ugly boots as well...but what the heck, what are you all...warm weather only photographers.
:exit:

Quickly runs for cover and finds the logout button. ..

Yeah, come on girls - don't leave me on my own with this lot!

I just know from spending all day outside at the recent Santa Pod meet, that it's gonna be V-E-R-Y cold! Think I'll be wrapped up like I'm going on an Arctic expedition

Aye, the wind chill is a tad nippy off the coast down here so wrapping up warm is a good idea. On a small point, there's a 3 quid toll charge to get to the Kimmeridge carpark as that's privately owned so have yer peggy purses ready. But it's a great place to be for sunset/sunrise shots - the ledges catch the light in quite a wonderful way and there's loads of fore/middle ground and distance interest.

Some recent blog shots of the area (and without fab light) just for info:

David

These are the type of shots I want for my landscape project - I'll be looking to you guys for some expert guidance ;)

Yeah right. lol....I must have ducked when you said that Mini ;) ... it’s the first time doing true landscapes for me too. I Just hope my wee tripod can take the breeze...I’m thinking of hanging bag of sand under it or something.

David and Spencer could you both pm me your mobile numbers please, mines O7958 484215...I guess you both know the area, so if I get confused..Etc.

Smashing images David...I've looked at them a few times over this year, so I have a huge list of questions for you...lol...no, not really...well maybe... ;)

Looking forward to meeting everyone. :)

Hmmm...i'm thinking Zimmer frame tripod accessory, as a new patent idea as well. Lol.

I'm afraid your a bit behind the times on that one. It has already been mentioned in another thread.

Watch this space, Mk I is currently in the design stage :D

Agreed. I'm looking forward to a car journey with a Ghandi lookalike..

Or the man himself!

Hmmm, you may all be disappointed then!

Hoodi! I tried to ring you today dude but there was no answer! I'll try again tomoz, it may be from a landline with an 01225 code btw!

I might only be able to make the Sunday (will confirm later), as i am moving house soon and need to go home to sort things out. I don't have internet here either, which doesn't help!

That'll be because I'm a flaropping idiot, I've lost my phone. Not sure where, though - so it could just be lurking in my house somewhere. Problem is, it's on silent!

even worse, I think the batteries flat now as when I rang today it went styraight to the message tellin me you were unavailable!

When you comin down saturday then?

Yeah I got that too.. I do remember the battery being nearly dead >.<

Not 100% about when I'm toodling over to you on Sat - I tried to book the tickets online (normally not a problem) but my card was rejected :/
So I have to get me arse over to the station and get me some tickets! I'll let you know when I've got the tickets, but I'll be looking to get something which puts me in Bath Spa at 10ish.

Feel free to turn up earlier if you like! I'm around all morning and it 'may' do us some good to have a hearty breakfast!

Notes to everyone else.......

You will need warm clothing/hipflasks/waterproofs/sturdy footwear/sense of humour!

Sunrise is as 07:30 and sunset at 1630 at the weekend, so should be great for sunrise/sunset stuff.

Just had a quick squizz at the bbc weather forecast for the weekend. Saturday is 'supposed' to be sunny with sunday being wetter than an otters pocket (although hopefully less smelly) but i guess that all depends on the various high pressure systems wandering around at the moment.

Sugggestions on what to do if sunday is a wash-out?????????

A quick dip?

May want to get there earlier on Sunday. I was at Keyhaven on Sunday for the dawn and it started getting interesting around 7 with 6:30ish ok for very long exposure "art" :p shots.

Edit: can't stress the good footwear bit. Sounds obvious but the rocks and ledges are slippier than a slippy thing.

Dunno about sunday, but turning up earlier & getting some decent brekkie down us sounds like a plan :)

well, hopefully the weather will hold off until after sun up!

Just let me know what time you're gonna be here if you can't find your phone hoodi and I'll meet you at the station! and no, I won't be the one stood under the clock with a red carnation and the chronicle folded under my arm!

Groovy!
Trying to decide what camera to bring now.. D200 is the obvious choice, but I'd like to do some IR.. And for that it's gotta be the D70 - but I also wouldn't mind shooting some film, so do I bring the F80! Argghhh!

so you'll be taking loads of bags then!! I'd join in but I'm up in london this weekend...typical, the one weekend I'm away and you lot are meeting up :bonk:

Sorry Mr Storm!

I spend quite a bit of time on the dorset coast so will no doubt be heading that way again at some point! Maybe we westerners should have a minimeet in bath/bristol/cardiff at some point?

Hoodi, bring em all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plenty of space in the jallopy! Might be trauma carrying them all down to the beach etc though! I may blag a go on your IR filters if poss, as I've wanted to try this for a while!

I'll be aiming to get there for about midday-ish on Saturday. Can't wait to meet everyone :) I'll just be bringing everything (ie D70 and FM2) as I HAVE to get some film shots for my college work. I'll be the one dressed like I'm ready to hit the North Pole  - oh, and by the looks of it, the only female so that might be a bit of a giveaway

Hoodi, if you want to use my D70, that's fine.... just bring your own CF card(s) ;)

I may blag a go on your IR filters if poss, as I've wanted to try this for a while!

No worries, chances are you'll have to use em' on my 15-30 though, cos they be rear gel filters. Unless you have a lens with a rear filter holder. Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye perhaps? Please tell me you have one!

mini ~ May take you up on that.. Depends how much I can cram into a bag!

Off to the train station in a bit to actually get some tickets. So I'll let you know later today what time I'll be there, Spencer.

Ordered some batteries and stuff from 7dayshop middle of last week, still no sign of them though

Weather update on the Sarf coast. This morning, hammering down with a brisk wind up the kilt. It's now trying to brighten up with sun through interesting cloud.

Any tea rooms near where we're gonna be, milou? Tea and cake and more tea and more cake appeals.

Cake and fine wine.
We want the finest wines availible to humanity. We want
them here and we want them now.

woohoo! Off to the seaside tomorrow, and it's probably gonna ****** down heheee!

Hoodi, I won't have any net access after about 8 or nine tonight so can you let me know by then what time you're gonna turn up please dude?

Failing that, just make a note of my number and give me a call from the phone box outside the station when you get here!

Me, excited? Oh no!

Btw, my car stereo had died, so if you have any battery poweredf speaker affairs you may wish to bring them! I have none!

Right!
Just got back from town, to find that my batteries and stuff from 7dayshop are on my kitchen table. Weird as the post had already been, but hey ho!
Booked me ticket Spencer, seems tickets available were short - so I'm leaving Cardiff at the god forsaken hour of 0730, and I'll be in Bath at 0836 - so I have to be up at 0630! Woo!
Anyhoo, leaves us plenty time for some brekkie :D
I don't have any battery powered speakers.. Looks like we'll have to talk and stuff!

Cool. I'll Meet you outside the station at Rude O'clock then! I'll wait in me car so I'm easy to find, Dirty dark Red Astra, reg ending COD. Might have to grab a cheap set of speakers from argos or something. I Hate drivin long distances without music!!!!!!!

See ya tomoz people, I'm off round the g/f's for the night cos she won't see me for 2 days. Awwwwwww.
