ok next door are stoners... up to them.. i couldn't give a flying twassle..

What I do get angry about is , "us in our garden, and the smell of dope wafting across!.. 2

Have been subtle, have been unsubtle, no progress... hardly a call to PC {Plod, however is a cat B.

I geuinely don't give a s**t as to what they do... just don't interfeer with mine!

If you have cause to complain often enough , (and call about it often enough), the police will pop round to tell them to pull their head in.
Well, they will in this town anyway ;)

Or you could just chuck a couple of the twins' soiled nappies over the wall with a note. .."if we have to smell your s***......"

'Take a deep breath and chill mon'

Just call out "Two`s up!" I am sure you will all get along fine then ;)

Cannabis smells nice!

Could be worse, they could be drinkers! Never seen a stoner get violent after a puff or 2 too many, wish I could say the same about boozers!

Possibly not to toddler twins.

Dunno... nice is nice. Then again, I like the small of jet exhaust and burning rubber, so perhaps I'm just weird.

Nod has a point: I'd rather live next door to someone who smokes cannabis than someone who drinks to excess. It's always amazed me that drink is legal and cannabis is not, especially when cigarettes are.

Crazy world.

Anyway... it's not clear if the OP has actually called the police, or whether he's not bothered because he just feels nothing will be done. I think you're right... just keep calling the police, and keep explaining that your young kids are being forced to breathe cannabis fumes. Surely they can't ignore that.

Drink is taxed and way back when, an (?) Egyptian with a bee in his bonnet about weed came up with a load of bull and got it banned. Not saying that weed is a good thing (especially for kids) but it causes fewer problems than good old C2H5OH (or at least the older types does!)

Oh I know all the plausible reasons why.. they still amaze me though... and saddens me a little that logic takes such a back seat sometimes.

Anyhooo.... lets not derail.

Maybe, maybe not,
but I'd take the smell over soiled nappies any day :D

If there was a cannabis scented air freshener, the only thing that would stop me buying it would be that people would think I'm smoking cannabis. It's a lovely smell.

Not nice when you have that. Heck I find annoying when I can smell cigarette smoke coming into our home. And our nearest neighbours are 300 feet away. Yet last night especially it was finding out lounge.

When walking the dog I picked up the scent of cannabis/hash coming from another house. Bet they mixed it with some speed or alcohol as there was also an almighty row going on.

I honestly don't mind what others do. Heck I used to my the prefab of Moroccan black in my sisters coffee shop when I was young. However people should have some consideration for others, especially with the children about.

Why not just talk to them? Just say you're not bothered about the weed just mention the kids.

But ultimately there's not much you can do about air carrying a smell ( unless you want to do them in ) if they don't want to help.

Read the first post.
Seems he's tried that.

Right, wasn't overly clear if it was talked about in any great detail. Wasn't sure what subtle and unsubtle consisted of.

Option 1) lump it

Option 2) report it (and be prepared for retaliation)

Option 3) gas masks

Option 4) only go outside when the wind blows the other way

Option 5) deep breaths and relax :D

but it causes fewer problems than good old C2H5OH (or at least the older types does!)

if you take drinking to an extreme yes but if I smoke a couple of joints it will do significantly more damage to me than a couple of drinks.

Or Option 6) The Joe McDonald socially inclusive "good neighbour" option

I gots to ask. What's actually upsetting you? Is it the fear of a tiny quantity of THC coming your way and rendering you all desperate dope fiends or the upset that someone else somewhere is enjoying themselves, and worse doing it illegally? It can't be the fact that you might have to explain something to your kids because they won't have a clue what that smell is until they get to the second year of primary school! :D

I am so with you on that one! I have the exact same issue with my own neighbours, I don't care if they "do" what is called "soft drugs", I'd much rather they are on grass rather than be raging loud-mouthed alcoholics but what I cannot abide is that horrible sickly pungent tangy-like stench which I can smell at night if I leave the window open. It just gives me a headache so I do get a bit fed up when there is a whole group of people "chilling out" in their front garden at 2 am puffing away like steam trains and the smoke then wafts into my house. It's worse in the summer when it's all calm and humid and I want to leave my bedroom window open to let the air circulate around the room and just as I am drifting off to sleep . . . "phwoar, what is that stink?!". I kept thinking that a plug had caught alight or something, that's how bad the smell does get.
I get why people like to do grass, but how could they actually breathe the stuff down their neck without the smell making them feel ill or cough their lungs inside out. It's vile! And they do get through an alarming amount of it which does beg the question of how they are able to afford it as none of them are in full time jobs.

Funny that alcohol related problems (including the victims of abuse, fights) costs the NHS more than cannabis related problems then. Inhaling cannabis is more harmful than having a pint of beer... yes... but it's a personal choice affecting the user. Taken as a cause of societal problems however, alcohol is just indefensible as a legal, taxable commodity, especially so when you factor in the damage it causes to other people.

Alcohol abuse costs the NHS 2.9 billion a year... which is 5 times the amount ALL drug use costs the NHS, and that includes class A drugs (official figures from the NHS itself). There are no official figures that I can find for cannabis alone... probably because it's too small a figure to factor in... unless you are of the belief that using cannabis leads to harder drugs... you know... like nicotine and alcohol use does... LOL

[edit]... I still sympathise with the OP though before anyone suggests I don't, but the answer is simple.. call the police. It's anti-social behaviour.. just has having a barbecue every single day, or playing loud music every single day would be.

They'd LOVE to... however, it's a DRUG!!... unlike nicotine and alcohol which are.... oh.. hang on... :)

As with tobacco, 'passive smoking' of cannabis is not beneficial ... all the more so for very young children.

Absolutely.. which is why I suggested calling the police. You have a right to expect fresh air and be able to open your windows without other people's emissions entering your home... that would be equally valid for cannabis, cigarette smoke, barbecue smoke, or anything else if it's a constant issue. I used to have an issue with a neighbour constantly having barbecues in summer.. even if it was raining.... he was obsessed. Sounds petty to complain, but you can only go to work with your freshly laundered clothes smelling of charcoal grilled sausages for so long without it becoming wearisome.

Along with Ian D J I'm no fan of the smell of cannabis, and I also have neighbours that like a puff, though fortunately not very often.

As for what's bad for you, pretty much anything consumed to excess is going to be harmful, whether alcohol, soft drugs, food, water or sleep. There's no valid comparison between present legally abused drugs and illegal drug use in terms of harm to health and NHS cost because there simply isn't the access and level of consumption of the illegal drugs to make the comparison valid.

perhaps this should be merged with the current "anyone grow there own ****" thread now that would really make it interesting ROFPMSL

Just tell them a neighbour is undercover drugs squad and let the paranoia grow. They will be hiding in the attic answering the door to no one......

Not really no.... I just thought it was interesting :)

And the police agree with you.

Many years ago I read a report about football hooliganism written by a high ranking police officer. He stated that in the 1970s when football fans took alcohol into the grounds, hooliganism was bad. Now they take canabis instead and the amount of trouble has diminished significantly.

However, when football fans go abroad, they revert back to alcohol as they don't want to get caught by customs with canabis - and guess what the result is!!
