...you have to wait for things!

Its my birthday on Friday and I've got a Canon 60D and 17-55 IS sat waiting in their boxes on the top of my wifes wardrobe. My 70-200 F4 IS arrives tomorrow too and I'm not allowed anywhere near any of them until the big day!

Its so painful.

It'll be worth it! :thumbs::D
Now me saying that about Canon gear is quite a statement! ;) :D:D

Haha sounds like my wife.

When my 7D turned up she hid it in a cupboard and wasn't going to tell me because it was "funny". Little did she know I'd been tracking the order on the Internet so I knew exactly to the minute when she signed for it  so when I got in from work I had the last laugh :D

You could try saying you just want to open it to get the battery charged or read the manual

I know the feeling, I had to wait for over a month to get my MP-E65 for christmas. And, since I have got it the weather has been too bad to get out and take anything good. I've done some great indoor shots though.
I've also just ordered a Sigma 150-500 OS and that wont get here 'til at least friday. If it wasn't for the savings you get for ordering off the net I would go to a shop and get one. Having said that, the 2 camera shops nearby probably wouldn't have one in and I'd still have too wait.
Just had a look on the Fedex site and it's now in GB, just another 24 hours or so and it's going on.

If you know when it is,need I say any more :D

All good things come to those who wait - until she's out and you can take a sneaky drool:thumbs:

You really need to get this camera out and use it without her knowing lol

Oh it must be killing you knowing it's only a few feet away.

All the best for Friday and have a good birthday.

When she's out take a self portrait then show her when you get it on Friday! Go on, I dare you !!

Haha, brilliant! I'm actually really tempted to do that...

I said I needed to open the box to charge the battery, to which her reply was - "I'll do it for you". Not sure I like the idea of her being the first person that opens the box. Is that really sad?

Yes, very sad.
It means you will have a second hand camera.............and you just know that Canon don't hold their value.......:naughty::exit:

If we have Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, maybe you should try to introduce 'Birthday Eve' with a new tradition of being able to open one of your presents! :D Personally, I would love that!!

She's for keeping if she's buying you stuff that you actually want ;)

Only a few more hours to wait now...

Happy Birthday, hope you've unwrapped all your prezzies by now and started charging that battery, just as long as the mrs didn't open it first. Lol.

Well I've got my Sigma and have had a play about with it. I'm so impressed so far, just can't wait for decent weather now for some real fun.

You'd hope that the wife would have got the battery out and charged it up. We always do that if we are giving gifts eg cameras.

I hate waiting as well so much so that I paid £3600 for my 1D from Jessops so I could go pick it up same day that wait for a delivery from WEX who had it at £3480 or Mifsuds who were selling it at £3450.

I am standing to get £180 cashback at quidco though so price was good I could have had 3% from quidco on WEX but I wanted it there and then. (new years eve) bonus is I can go and rant in a shop if it goes wrong so the ~£50 is worth that I think

I also prefer this route too, i actually drove 100 miles all in to pick up my 24-70 rather than wait 4 days to get one in my local jessops.

Oh and happy birthday, i hope your out playing with your new toy :)

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

I ended up getting the battery out and charging it myself whilst she was at work one night. Took me ages to carefully remove the box seal so the cardboard underneath remained intact. Got away with it though!

As I'd bought most of the kit myself (she couldn't be trusted to get the right ones) she set up a treasure hunt around the house with clues attached to each gift pointing me in the direction of the next. Kids loved helping me hunt! Great idea.

The kit is awesome, can't stop playing with it. Much better than my old 400D/Sigma 18-200 combo. I'm a lucky boy. :)
