......you get ready, travel to a shoot and then discover that you have left all you memory cards are on you kitchen table inc. the emergency one i kept in the car in case of this ever happening :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

Done that yesterday, it's like well annoying :)

hehehehehehe.. sooo glad its not just me then'

did that with my battery, left it in the charger, got to the shoot and couldn't turn the camera on, looked in the battery bay and...... insert curse word here :D

Have you brought a spare battery now? keeping it charged and in the camera bag? :D

haven't bought a spare yet but now i always check the night before and check before i go out :)

havig a grip also means i can use AA batteries, so i keep a pack of them in the bag :)

Did that the other week with both my batteries at home! Well I thought they were home until I got back to the car at the end of the day and they were in the passenger footwell all along :D

been there done that.....

Thankfully the clever grip thingy holds a spare battery and emergency memory card.......

Yep done the memory card trick - thank worst for Tesco stocking CF cards! tWas a rubbish one mind you - was a few years back.

Nope, never happened to me.........I'm perfect!:D

4 batteries and 8 memory cards live in the camera bag at all times. Everything gets put away after it's charged etc.

I haven't managed this yet, probably because I check my camera before I set off and it will say on the screen 'insert memory card' and won't let me shoot until I do.

My worst habit is forgetting to turn off Mirror Lockup or leaving the self timer on and then standing there like a complete tool while it counts down...

Ever since I left the house without all memory cards I've got into a habit of taking 1 photo before walking out the door. Thankfully, the only time it happened me I had a film camera in the bag with a film loaded! And double thankfully I wasn't going to an important shoot or something like that!

I upgraded the firmware the other day, I dug out an old 512mb card to do it.
At the weekend the kids had a show so I grabs camera takes 1 pic an notice
that I can only take 20 or so more, Doh!
Nice new shiney 16gb card sitting on desk at home.

I remember once setting off to do a shoot and having to turn back after 20 miles when I realised that I had everything with me except my camera.....

Had a friend leave the battery at home, charging. I always take a shot of the house before I leave. Must have like 500 shots of my house now....

I use a Tamrac neoprene camera strap which has a couple of memory card pockets in it and always keep a spare 8gb card in there. Since the strap is permanently in my camera bag, I've always got one to hand (although I've never needed it yet 'cos I never take the card out of the camera unless I'm shooting a wedding). :)

Si

I run a checklist that starts anything up to 2 days before the shoot including checking batteries and memory cards all charged and packed the night before.

Checklist is on a clipboard along with other notes and last item to be ticked is that all packed gear is actually in the car.

Never forgotten anything...................so far:)

i guess this is like a must-go-through experience for everyone. i tend to forget my batteries and memory cards occasionally. ya it sucks the moment when you see "Please insert a memory card" and you go like WTF?!

I carry a spare memory card in my pocket at all times just so I DON'T do that.

As soon as I take the card out to put in the reader, I replace it just in case I want to grab the camera for instant use.

I have been caught out by running out of film and getting 1/2 way round Stourhead then running out of battery. In both cases, I had decided to be lazy and not carry the bag with me and of course, in both cases, I had spare film and batteries in the bag (in the car)...

*Tut* *Tut*... sooo unprofessional...

Got to Whipsnade in my film days, using public transport and the only lens I had on me was an 8mm fisheye , rest were on the kitchen table where I'd cleaned 'em the night before.:bang:

Stu.

i like this idea! i always take a photo of a blank white screen at f22 to check for nasty sensor dust before i leave.

Note to self. Buy spares cards and batteries and keep them in bag, car, work etc.

Hmmm...Schoolboy error...
I keep two cards in each camera at all times - 16Gb in the D3x and 8Gb in the D3...download images after a job, then straight back into the bodies and re-format for immediate use if required.
Bag contains another six 4Gb cards and four 8Gb cards, along with six spare EN-EL4a batteries.

turned round and went back home once as I had no memory card....to find when i'd got back home i'd packed it in a different space in my bag all along :p

:)

battery failure when you dont use AA can be a problem...happened to me recently
no spare and dead on arrival
