I would think the GPS unit would be the most costly

For god sake stop this! How long before planes start falling out the sky from camera balloon impacts. We need legislation in this area ASAP and the offence has to carry mandatory jail time as a deterrent. It's just not possible to "accidentally" launch a camera balloon into a flight path. These idiots have to be stopped.

Quite amazed by the shots they achieved to be honest. Would be worth a go if I had the time to invest.
 
Obviously untrue. None of the well educated DM readers have claimed they are photoshopped, although a couple have raised copyright concerns.:)

knowing my luck, the camera would be facing the opposite way to earth and acheive complete darkness :'(

Apple are thinking of launching the iphone 4 into orbit, to see if it'll finally get a 5 bar signal :D
