Time for me to let off a bit of steam......

yesterday morning I had planned to go out togging at a place called Framlingham near Ipswich.

Anyways, went to start the car and............

Click click click chug chug chug, wouldn't start :bang:


turns out the battery was dead,

ok put the tester on it only 50% charged, turns out the cells were dying.

went out and bought a new battery, car started fine after that, the problem was that half the day had gone and unfortunately no piccies were taken :(

anyways there's always another day :)


Moral of the story: always check your battery folks :)

I've got a better one that that, 2 yr old Iveco daily FSH still under warranty,15 miles from home turn the key, click click.

I ring Iveco breakdown, they take 3 hours to come out after making me pay £300 because it MIGHT be the battery and they aren't covered.

Guy comes out and removes all the plastic covers to find the + terminal completely corroded, can't fix it so I wait another 30 mins then get towed back where they replace the part.

Breakdown time 2.30pm arrive home 15 miles 9.40pm, 7 hours for a corroded terminal that should have been checked on any of the 3 main dealer services it's had :razz:
 
Thats the problem though.......Main Dealer........ What they don't see they don't touch. See it all of the time sadly.

:bonk: Now you tell me :lol: It would have saved me swearing at Jemima Bubblebutt last week when she wouldn't start one night when I was supposed to be going out :lol:
 
Happened to my old car, Went to the post office to pick up a parcel, tried to start the car, click click battery dead. Since I was only a week away from trading it in I had cleaned it out, no tools in the boot but luckily (hah right) I was only 500 yards from a Halfords, walked there, paid xtey five million pounds for the smallest battery I could find and a spanner, carried them 500 yards back to the car and got it going.

P.S. Anyone want a really good quality Halfords car battery? going cheap..
 
Could have been worse. You could have driven out, realised you camera batteries were flat, went to drive home and realise you'd left your lights on, so car battery flat. Upon trying to call the AA you realise your mobile battery was flat...I could go on :D
 
Anyway, what's to be photographed in Fram?

Few old shops, pretty little market square, some old castle, big ol' school buildings.

I don't think Fram residents would thank you for the description "near Ipswich" though. But if you want East Suffolk, I'd list Woodbridge, Aldeburgh and Snape obviously, and Debenham.

Woodbridge is a nice place to photograph, been there before :)

Yep, cold weather is coming, gonig to happen to a few of us I bet.

I know last year the first day it dropped down below -5 my car battery died!

HA!

Bad day here for batteries too..

I`ve got a VW Caddy, went to start it this morning and it was flat as a fart. Jump started it and the steering wheel warning light stayed on - pretty normal, it just needs resetting..

After leaving it running, I turned it off to be greeted by a vast array of warning lights. Took the keys out, and they still stayed on! I thought I'd shorted the alternator when I'd jumped it, or worse fried an ECU.

After playing about with it at a garage for an hour it went from bad to worse, it wouldn`t even stop the engine from running when you took the keys out! After plugging it in to various test equipment, I got the hump with it and hit the fusebox cover.

Hey presto! All the lights went out. Turned out the problem was a sticking relay! lol.

Now, the only issue is whether the relay got stuck after I`d jumped it, or whether the relay stuck causing the battery to discharge..

You going to change the relay, can't be expensive, surely?

That's one way to diagnose and fix the problem I suppose :D

You`d think so wouldn`t you?

The trouble is, I haven`t isolated exactly which relay it is (it`s all working fine at the mo). So it`s no good blindly changing them. Depending on the relay, I`ve bought some that came in around £60-£70...
