There is alway one smart arseJust under 12 months - it was the 25th last year!![]()
You too huh?Precious few hairs left to split these days!![]()

IndeedStill a PITA every 6 months (or so).
Just under 12 months - it was the 25th last year!
About 1/2 of ours do it automatically so I'll have to grab one of them and see which disagree with it after I've done all the ones I remember! Cameras all stay set to GMT.
At least I might sleep until 06:00 tomorrow.
But I lose an hour of daylight in the morning, and so do many other out side workers, such as farmers. That extra hour of daylight in an evening is well worth a few minutes changing some clocks, really don't know why people moan about it.
But I lose an hour of daylight in the morning, and so do many other out side workers, such as farmers.
Many people start work at proper times not half way through the day.
This all started 102 years ago, to assist farmers with their work.
There really is no logical reason to put the clocks forward especially in this day and age of halogen floodlights / diesel generators !
Yet another waste of time, it seems like it was only 12 months ago, that we did it

Yes but that's a few months away yetAt the height of summer, it's light before 4am,
I was right first timeI think you meant to say "different" rather than "proper" there.![]()
Think about it, It was started to give them an extra hour in the evening...But you've just complained that farmers are losing out
As above, it was designed to give them an extra hour of daylight in the evening.Halogen floodlights and diesel generators? What have they got to do with daylight?
As above it doesn't matter in today's modern society, its an out dated concept. And they gain an hour in the evening.
Swings and roundabouts.![]()
Exactly!I think it was a Red Indian chief who said;
"Only an idiot would think that by cutting a piece off the bottom of a blanket and sewing it on the top would result in a longer blanket."![]()
Yes but that's a few months away yet
Think about it, It was started to give them an extra hour in the evening...
Not an extra hour of darkness in the morning.
As above, it was designed to give them an extra hour of daylight in the evening.
Its now rather an archaic concept, there is plenty of other light sources that can be and are used for outside workers these days,
without fear of "Jerry" using lights as targets
I often see Large farm vehicles working in the dark with artificial light, and landfill sites lit up light Wembley stadium, with artificial light sources.
Exactly!
Its quite simple really, Some people gain an extra hour of day light in the evening, some people lose an hour of daylight in the morning.I fail to see what one has to do wth the other.
Of course they can / are.And those light sources can be utilised in the morning as well.
They can always get up an hour earlier if they want that extra hour of daylight, but of course the majority won't, unless of course, like now, its dictated by the government.Fo r the majority of people, it just means that they will see an extra hour of daylight.
Of course they can / are.
But you are missing the main point, there is no logical reason in this day and age to mess about with the clocks
its an out dated 100+ year old concept that has no reason to continue in this day and age.
They can always get up an hour earlier if they want that extra hour of daylight, but of course the majority won't, unless of course, like now, its dictated by the government.
GMT would suit me better, But if they left it as +1 I wouldn't lobby my MP or start a thread about itFor those who don't want the time to change twice per year, would you prefer GMT or BST all year round?
I've no idea how, besides, there is no extra hour of daylight its always been there, people are just getting up earlier,That extra hour of daylight in the evening benefits people.
Now you're just being silly.
That extra hour of daylight in the evening benefits people.
I've no idea how, besides, there is no extra hour of daylight its always been there, people are just getting up earlier,
and now calling 18:30 19:30 a rose by any other name.
pulling teeth is easier.
Why can't you understand the most people are now getting up an hour earlier in their working week, than they did last Friday morning.
100+ years ago, there may well have been a point to help the war effort to get people up an hour earlier,
and they ( probably) were happy to work outside for that so called extra hour of "daylight" to help the war effort.
Its now an out dated concept, in todays modern society.
So did the extra hour of daylight in the morning.
I think it was a Red Indian chief who said;
"Only an idiot would think that by cutting a piece off the bottom of a blanket and sewing it on the top would result in a longer blanket."![]()
"Misery Guts Monica"I'm fed up with people who spoil something you have believed in for years.

A silly concept, period.
Now we have to strugle harder to put kids asleep at night.
Get Up one hour earlier to get to work and at this time og year thats stealing our morning light making our Day shorter since we'll be in bed long be sundown
Deers along our motorways colides with morning traffic because of the sudden shift.
Then there is stress and health issues which are actually real.
Do you honestly believe that? I certainly don'tAlso, more time for kids to be out rather than spending time on the computer or watching TV.
Fine, it suits your lifestyle or at least Mrs F'sThat extra hour of daylight means that she can start seeing clients on an evening
Exactly! you and me both.Get Up one hour earlier to get to work and at this time og year thats stealing our morning light making our Day shorter since we'll be in bed long be sundown
Bed earlier, yes, sleep is a different matter. It takes time to adjust, whether that's holidaying abroad or time shifts here.People are also going to bed an hour earlier
Those damned "Natives" have a lot to answer for eh?I'm fed up with people who spoil something you have believed in for years.
But probably nowhere near as many.
I always thought that until recently and then I realised the split is always 5/7(GMT/BST)Precious few hairs left to split these days!![]()
Still a PITA every 6 months (or so).
Do you honestly believe that? I certainly don't

However Soeren and I have a different take on it. V

Cattle adapt within ten days. Humans in less.
There are still farmers who chose to ignore the clocks and keep milking routines rather then have the yield drop and lose money
As has already been mentioned, small humans take a while to adapt, not an easy thing when the parents still have to get to work as well
as getting the child up and ready for school/nursery etc. Getting them to bed can be as bad and surprisingly parents do like a bit
of time to themselves at the end of the day to wind down
Try 4:30. 2 hours comuting and students depending on us being there on time. And no I can't just let my colleque be alone with 50+ students the first hour. This concept "summertime" is an artificial idea with no real benefits and yes Im getting up one hour earlier. You got up at 7am (for instance) to go to work on Friday morning and you'll get up at 7am to go to work tomorrow.
You're not "getting up earlier".
GMT then Noon is noon (more or less). Oh and this silly idea of changing clocks was first suggested by that kite flying maniac Benjamin Franklin. However he was not being serious he was being rude about the French who turned up late to meetings. For those who don't want the time to change twice per year, would you prefer GMT or BST all year round?
