Dont forget Motogp tonight

Or EuroSport now for some reason they are broadcasting the race live tonight. Not complaining as i prefer the Eurosport comentry.

Anyone know what happened to Lorenzo? How hurt was he? Or was it just his pride? Stoner seemed to be walking a little gingerly too. Bet they both woke up sore this morning....

Jorge Lorenzo earned pole position for the US MotoGP but the Spaniard also suffered a heavy fall, as did third-fastest rider Casey Stoner.

The pair needed medical attention after they both had huge high-side crashes and Lorenzo will need further checks to determine whether he can race.

World champion Valentino Rossi remained upright throughout, and pinched second place on the grid with his last lap.

Britain's James Toseland also suffered a crash and came in a lowly 15th.

Lorenzo had already fallen from his Yamaha once in the session, and jogged back to the garage to switch bikes, before he came off spectacularly as qualifying drew to a close.

He landed on his right shoulder on the track and then slid headfirst about 30 metres in the sand.

The 22-year-old was taken off the track by ambulance and it was not immediately clear how badly he was injured.

He will have a late medical check just hours before the race begins but is optimistic about his chances of racing.

"We were really comfortable and competitive on this track, but when I had my last chance to do a quick lap time I found some slower riders on track and they wanted to follow me," said Lorenzo.

"I decided to slow down for a while because I wanted to be alone but the rear tyre was too cold for the speed I was doing. I went into the corner and I crashed.

"I'm disappointed for these two crashes but I am okay and I am optimistic that I will be able to ride on Sunday."

Stoner, who started from the pole last year at Laguna Seca, flipped off his bike moments after Lorenzo's crash and also landed on the track.

He was driven back to his team's garage and could be seen limping as he got off a cart.

Rossi wished a speedy recovery to both Lorenzo and Stoner.

"I just hope that Casey and Jorge are fit and are able to race, because for sure it would be a great battle between us, as our pace on race tyres is very similar," said Rossi.

Broke a bone in the foot and suffered a seperated shoulder (refered to a shoulder dislocation) not the normal ball being hit out of the socket, but the shoulder blade is sperated from the coller bone. Its far more pain full then a standard dislocation. Still racing though.

what a great race, motoGP hardly ever fails to provide good entertainment

stoner is not a well bunny at all

rossi was great fun

lorenzo had a great ride given his injury and had it not been for a heart stopping moment might possibly have won that one!

pedrosa is too small to be a real person surely?!

and its good to see hayden getting back towards the front :)

excellent race

Rossi was bloody close on that last corner , i reckon another lap and he'd have won , he seemed to come from nowhere

pedrosa is 7 1/2 stone !!!

I had visions of him diving down the inside on that last corner - was almost screaming noooooooo at the screen

I thought that was a rather dull race actually... not particularly exciting compared to others this year and definitely not a patch on last years Laguna Seca!

I think you'd have to wait a long time for a race as good as last years laguna seca , possibly the best race i've ever seen

agree with the above

think had lorenzo not have been as committed he may have went past on the straighht and then possibly onto win, glad he stayed on and finished however

I was never keen on Stoner but he has earned alot of respect from me of late, takes something to carry on in his condition

I'd agree 100% with you there!

And everytime those idiots on BBC2 say "this is the best race ever!" to some lame procession, that is what I shout at the telly.

I must be getting old, shouting at the telly....

Catalunya was good for a series that seems to have lost its lustre (WSB is where it is at!), but not a patch on the Laguna Seca battle!
