Hello everyone, might be going to Donnington with some biker friends who want some photos of themselves on a track day.

I was thinking I might need to get something with a bit more reach than my 70-200 F4 that I use for my cycling races and wondered what suggestion you might have?

I'll probably hire something for the day as TFC is easy for me to get to.

Thanks in advance

Phil

Yeah 70-200 is a bit short for much of Donny, 100-400 oft popular, or fixed 400 & the 70-200, or the Sigma Bigma.

Assuming you can get infield access during a track day?

All the outfield is fenced, so shooting through the fence unless head to the stand on the pit straight.

This is from the stands @ 75mm (don't think TC fitted) on 30D

Inside Redgates (infield) 70-200 + 1.5 TC on 5D

If the track day is before Easter weekend (which i believe is 4th April?) then I dont think you'll be able to get onto the infield due to the renevation works taking place. So if they are using the short circuit, I find the best places would be on the outside of the Foggy Esses (photographs would be from behind), on the outside of Redgate as mentioned above, or on the outside of McLeans. I use a 100-400mm and that's fine with regards to distance.

It'll be in June. I know very little about the track so would be swotting up beforehand
