Donington out of BSB

Yup....WSB to follow?

BTCC is still set to race there according to Mr Gow.

I have my own little theory on this.........bsb (owned by MSV (Dr Palmer)) pulls out....donny loses reveune........putting pressure on them to give the lease a little cheaper.....maybe........

I personal dont see how any major event can put Donny on there calander until the circuit is race ready, at the very least it needs to have an company to run the place, it will take a fair bit of cash to get it back before the seasons start again.

no i cant see him wanting that track tbh. alot of people seem too think he will save any track that becomes available but he wouldnt go down the lease route that for sure.

Why not?

It has the WSB, it will have another BTCC round, it can host F2, possible WTCC track.

It will be a profitable move IMO.

We shall see I suppose......

I've been a big fan of Donington for years, well until they started putting too many restrictions on the campsite :naughty:.

The access and facilities have always be poor but the racing is excellent, I even had the chance to go round on the back of a mates ZZR1100 :D.

It needs some money putting into it but it's better than some flat boring tracks(not looking to start an argument :))

No I think you are right actually...

I don't think in principle JP would object to Donny, but not on a leasehold basis.

Also, remember the reason why the current owners went to the wall was because they couldn't raise capital to finish the job. I doubt whether MSV has that kind of cash under JP's bed either, so they would need to finance it from financiers who are too busy paying bonuses to lend businesses money.

Lets hope someone can rescue it as it's a great track, fair enough it's crap for photography but it's always delivered great racing.

I think its the wrong time for a rescue bid really... maybe next year or the year after, but I think you'll find its off the calendar for a little while...

But if it's not possible to race there, the leasee has gone bust where does that leave the Wheatcrofts? Perhaps they will sell the place rather than lease it:shrug: (complete speculation)

What. i disagree there are some nice shots to be had there.

I very much doubt JP will be after lease, but you never know, but does he have the funding to get the track raceable even if it becomes available to buy, forget finishing of the new track that doppy *******s was after, then first proity will be getting the place raceable so it has something to sell the racing comunity.

You do know "old man Wheatcroft" is now forming up on the heavenly grid now?

Exactly, assuming he left it to his family, do they want to keep hold of it or given the current **** state it's in and the unlikeliness that it's going to make any money in the next 12 months do they want to just get rid of it.

Would make a lovely housing estate;)

I think you will find the burning passion for motorsport in the Wheatcroft household was one man... the most likely person left in charge will be a chap who likes nazi tanks more than racing...
