They couldnt organise a p*ss up in a brewery, never mind a sodding Grand Prix.

Went today for the WSBK (practice day) and I got sent around 6 different Marshals to try and find where the hell to park. They even sent me the way that the COmpetiors go. When eventually I got parked, they had not opened the ticket booth. 45 minutes late, the Ticket booth was open. Then the dosy cow ripped my ticket wrong and had to make sure that it was still valid!!! Once I had my ticket and I got inside all was well (and I met Maska off here)

Then we went to get into the FREE paddock. THe pre-pubescent numpety on the gate wouldnt let us through because you had to pay. In the afternoon we eventually found out it was now free :bang:

If they cant even organise the Friday of WSBK then they are going to be buggered for a Grand Prix.

:bang::bang:

They heard that Matt bloke was turning up so decided to make it hard for him so he wouldnt visit again:lol::lol::lol:

keep it at silverstone - the home of brittish motorsport i say

Donington does need a revamp in the facilities side. The track is/was fine, and they've got rid of the famous dunlop bridge.

I've not been there this year for any racing due to the 2 meetings i were going to were cancelled in april. And the re-scheduled f3/gt clashes with the wtcc at brands hatch.

The security guards are usually on an ego trip all the time too.

I thought Donington had charm. Like exploring a run down building when you're 12. Never know what syringe you'll tread on next :D

there is a rumor that although the GP will be at Donny it will be run by the Silverstone management team :shrug:
Donny still have to find £80mil to finish more work than is needed at Silvestone and Silverstone say they need over £100mil :thinking: do you think that nice Ecclestone chap has helped out a little :schtum:

From a track day point of view, always liked Donington as a drive, it's easy to get to, and no real traffic problems. Also while parts of it are a dump, you know it needs a decent refresh. Silverstone is either boring (National and International touring circuits), else technically challenging, but not over all enjoyable (GP). Also the facilities there are, with the exception of the pit garages, only on a par with Donington, but even with the new bypass it's stilla dog to get to and easilly clogged up traffic wise.

personally i feel donnington and silverstone are both lacking in the qaulity of both fan and driver appeal due too the boring layouts they use but the big benefit of the F1 moving from silverstone to donington is that the BRDC no longer has too find the £15 million to bring the F1 circus too britain and the drivers that pay the money into the club might get something back from it.

though neither are anywhere near as boring as some of the modern F1 circuits, according to the guys that actually drive them.

Only been to Donny a couple of times and one of them was to visit the museum, but the one day I spent there actually watching cars was interesting enough, it has some good corners and nice swoopy up and down bits that not only make for good watching, but good pictures too. Having said that, I didn't rate the organisation much at all and the road infrastructure is infinately worse then Silverstone on a GP weekend - there is a lot of work to be done if they are to host a GP successfully, though I would not be surprised at all if the circuit never actually sees a GP and it does actually end up back at Silverstone permanently, for all Gillets big plans I am not convinced it will all fall into place financially.

Silverstone is a boring drive on the National and International circuits, and a techically challenging, but frustrating drive non the GP.

Donington (note just 3 Ns not 4) is completely different. It's an absolute joy to drive, the National is actually better than the GP as the latter just feels like they've tagged two straights on to increase the tack length. Personally I think Donington National is my second favourate circuit to Oulton Park International.

Having said that, of course we now no longer know what Donigton is like to drive.
