Another PP donation in the fund Rob, only spotted this one about a hour ago, taken me this long to read through to here...

And Nikon are still the only manufacturer of real cameras...:D

Tis true , although don't let that detract from what is a fantastic thread which if anyone was in any doubt shows the true spirit of the people on this forum.

Top stuff everyone, and good luck Julian your'e going to have a blast !!!

I first saw this thread pretty early in its life and just wanted to say how impressed I am with people here - if only the rest of the country shared some of the communal spirit going on here it would be a great place to live. I haven't read the whole thread (too much work to read the whole novel!) but just wanted to make a couple of comments:

Julian - I know you're nervous about accepting this, but just go for it. In life there are always one or two who for whatever reason want to cause trouble, but they are best left ignored. The fact is that nearly 200 people have already donated something to you - and they've done that because they've been inspired by you - your humility and genuine spirit are a marked contrast with the attitudes of so many who have had life incredibly easy compared to you.

Rob - Just wanted to say that I'm thoroughly impressed by the energy and effort you've committed to this - I'm sure I'll be just one in a long line of people who insist on buying you a pint if we come across you in real life.

PayPal Verification: They send a small amount, you go back to them and tell them how much those amounts were and they're taken back again. Thus validating that bank account and proving you are who you say you are - same thing with the credit and debit cards I have registered against my PP account - but I'm still waiting for those token amounts to show up online...

Until that 'verification' is completed my account is partially disabled, meaning I cannot pay for stuff at the mo as I've exceded my credit-limit.
I also have a couple of items bought off ebay I need to pay for, so it's a little inconvenient to say the least...lol

Hi all - thanks for the welcome. I've browsed here for a long time and learnt plenty. If ever there was a thread to convince someone to pull their finger out and get involved, this is it.

Look forward to seeing the new camera safely delivered, and to taking a more active part in the forum (to be fair, any sort of activity will be an increase on my first 18 months of membership!)

Cheers

Ben

 Well I know one of the best towns to go out for a beer is Newcastle - grandad was from South Shields, and other relatives in Prudhoe near Durham, so I still have some family up thereabouts...

Though as I'm no longer single, we might have to scale things back a bit from when I was last there...:(

Rob, when I got 'verified' it took a couple of days, bearing in mind that it was in the days before fast bank transfers. Just a little warning. :)

And yes, Rob is due more pints than you can shake a tripod at!

I went yomping over the moors yesterday, bitching to myself about my knackered knee and more knackered elbow, suddenly they seem pretty insignificant and I really should stop bitching about petty things. This thread has been an eye opener.

Thats flipping awesome of you Julian to post that vid.

You are more than welcome from me matey

Yaaayyyy Wheels :)

Thank you so much for posting that. (Goes off wiping a tear myself!)

Your vid shows a marked speech improvement from the one you made in June, well done indeed, its good to see. Thanks for making and posting it too, it makes everything so worthwhile, good luck mate

Well done matey, good to see you 'in the flesh' as it were. This thread is simply the best thing ever on TP and thats saying something.

:thankyou:

well done Wheels - great vid, and we all appreciate you taking the time to make and post it

Question to Rob (and if I've missed this somewhere within the post then sorry..) but are you going to put a time window on this so that we all know what and when Wheels will get this sorted, or just let it run to a certain amount?

 Nice one Julian - Thanks for taking the time to do the video  It's a pleasure to be able to see you and to know that what everyone on here has done is going to help you so much and in so many ways.

Keep it coming folks

Just glad to do a small thing to make a real difference Julian.. no-one will miss the money they have donated to the camera fund and you will get a lot of pleasure from it and so will we knowing we have made your day. Thanks for the vid it means a lot and I am choked too sitting here...

We've already collected enough to do the deal this weekend with the camera, lens and a few bits and bobs, so Wheels should be up and running by next weekend hopefully, pending some admin that needs doing.

I'll leave the account running as latecomers may still wish to contribute, with the excess either being donated to a Charity of Wheels' choosing, or used to offset any personal medical expenses...

Absolutely our pleasure Julian

Great to see that your speech has improved massively - I took a look through your youtube vids - that's the perseverance and determination that has earnt you the respect, gratitude and generosity of the forum - enjoy the camera - you've earned it

Julian you are an inspiration, remember that when you think you don't deserve the camera etc - you do. You have made others (me included) realise that we don't do so bad in the scheme of things and I'm sure you will inspire many others in your situation to get out there and not give in:)

I hope the camera gives you as much joy (and not quite as much frustration:lol:) as mine has. xxx

All this just for me, i cant help it.

Don't fret it, just be happy. No-one is forcing anyone to contribute, people are choosing to do so because they want to. It's not being done out of guilt or shame. Go with the flow.

Don't think I've seen a response like this from any other forum I've visited, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside!

PayPal sent :)

This is a really amazing thread. It's really quite touching to see this generosity from an internet community.

Julian - enjoy the new toy(s), I look forward to seeing the photos!

this all seems very surreal. Darren has just phoned he will be here in 30 mins.

As already said by others, thanks for posting your latest video Julian.
Short and sweet - and that's all it needed to be.
I can see a massive improvement in your speech which just goes to show what a battler you are.

WELL DONE THAT MAN!
