well organised rob mines sent as a gift and happy to help :)

my probs aint as bad,but my knees are swollen like ballons from yesterday and every bone in my body hurts, so i wont be leaving the house for at least 24 hours.
i had to look after my mum who also has bad problems with her hands and cant walk except on crutches, double trouble.
in the end you just have to do what you can and keep going. :D

 Rob mony's already sent via PP..... Only just found this thread, Wheels hope you enjoy your new camera and setup, the reponse to this thread has been great......

Just had a very long weekend with the Irish Lads at the Czech TT (road racing) in Horice (1 race win, a 2nd and 3rd for the lads in the different classes), 1st time out not bad), plus sleezyjet cancelled return flight, so back a day late, only just got back in to UK, no sleep (2 bikers and a mech who could snore for britain in a wood shack that was our accommodation), walked miles, got wet, drank too much (czech beer was nice though :naughty:), ate rubbish (meat and potatoes or anything deep fried, they don't do alot else) and now full of cold :D all to be repeated next year

Just sent a pm to Julian. Will hopefully pop round and speak to him. Will take a collection of nikons with me. I have a D40x, D300 and D700 just to see how he can hold them. We should be able to work out if the D5000 is best or D90/D300s

Mrs just told me off cos I am getting worked up over this, mainly cos of that baffoon earlier

It's a shame the videos of the bomb and your trip back to normal speech werent shown at the beginning.
Not that the fella should've have said what he did. But because then he just wouldn't have.
So don't lose any sleep over it mate. I bet if he sees the vids now he'd choke.

Looks like a nice piece of kit (for a Nikon):p

I am sure Julian will have a lot of fun with it...:)

Hey guys, I could do with a new kit, I don't suppose there's any chance of.........................................Nah :D

Can't believe it, I still have to keep coming back to this every 10mins but boy, does it make you feel good :)

No its worrying me :cuckoo:

PP sent, only just seen the thread.

Not only that, but it looks like the screen hasn't been attached properly. Looks like it may fall off at any moment.
:exit:

Never thought I would say it, but it looks an awesome bit of kit, nice layout and hopefully easy to hold and handle. Thats the only time I am going to compliment Nickon this year

edit: spelling mistake intentional ;)

Go on! Admit it! It made you feel a little bit tingly inside!

Right I have to soot off for a bit- so book-marking this incredible thread- Its 12.05 page 21 and post 619. Lets see where it is when I get back?

Julian.

I bet your story is an inspiration to many others, and your story will help others to reach out and gain confidence again after serious knockbacks in life.

You were in a blast, a serious bike accident, then finally suffered a stroke.
Photography helped give you focus and helped you move back into public and get out then you broke your camera..

You have helped so many people with your story..
So sit back.. smile.. and let us help you

Apart from everything else in this thread, which is wonderful IMHO, I hope Julian and everyone else can enjoy the little bit of banter thrown in for good measure :)

This is my first post on TP (although I've been registered for ages!), but just wanted to add my  to the PP fund.

Julian, I was following your progress on the AP forums and am impressed by the spirit demonstrated by all those helping.

Look forward to seeing the pictures in due course.

Cheers

Ben

Ben, this is definitely TP at its best... welcome.

Again this is an awesome effort. I shall defo be making my contribution when I get home. (Pay day!). Such a great cause.

Good First post mate...

Compared with the 1,000-odd visitors today who haven't dug deep...

*Update*

Very impressed, looking at the list of contributors on my PP and bank accounts...most donations have been for £10 or £15 with a couple of very genourous individuals stumping up considerably more (and more to come in the form of physical assistance and hardware)...
And thanks to the lone representative from Australia who made the effort. Many thanks...the only non-European donation so far...

But only 173 of us actually donated (so far) out of a potential 2,500 or so over the past 15 hours...
Well-done to those of us who helped-out, I think...but don't go thinking I'll be any nicer to you if you spout [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] about filters...:suspect:

And Nikon are still the only manufacturer of real cameras...:D

I don't like being made a fuss of (although the wife may say different) and about 6 months ago I was diagnosed with depression resulting from numerous things that really didn't matter individually but together became a problem. If it wasn't for photography I would probably be a gibbering wreck now (again, possibly best to ask the wife about that one) and if I had not had access to a camera I don't know what I would have done so I know how much difference it can make. You need to get a camera and we need to help you get one.
Now, I know this is all a bit too much to take in but think of it as a social service just like your adaptations for the car only we are supplying some much needed camera equipment to make your life easier/better, you don't need to get worked up about it, you haven't begged anyone for help it is volunteered just like you volunteered to take photographs for the Stroke Association. So chill and enjoy and let us feel good about making you feel good.

Cheers

Andy

Arkady, I don't know Nikons but I know the canon's with live view and video recording can use an external screen via the HDMI port as an output. Just thinking with the tilting screen/liveview option you could use a bigger 7" or 8" screen and not restrict to a camera with a tilting screen.

Rob, could you please check for another donation from me into your bank. Same reference as before - dad was really touched by this and wanted to put some money towards it too
