:thumbs:What a wonderful response from everyone involved, it is so nice to see everyone pulling it together like this, well done to Rob for facilitating this and Wheels we just want pictures and to know that you are having a bit of fun with your new toy.

Well done us!!

Kath after keeping myself locked in the house until I discovered photography through the stroke group, and the feeling of freedom and not bothered what people may say or do because of how I speak. It was like a new life, my carer takes me out for 8 hours a week togging. My wife takes me out on the odd days when I feel strong enough to face people. This may have the reverse effect and you wont be able to get me in the house. Im stunned beyond belief.

Getting towards D90 money here!

Lets keep this going guys and gals.....

I am sure there will be an advertiser along soon with a great offer.......

OK that's about £750 by my rough guess-timate...we might be able to be a bit more ambitious now...

Tomorrow night we'll hear if our overtures to some of the Big Players out there have paid dividends...

Just get out there as much as you can and take as many photos as you can and don't worry about other people, I am sure most decent people are not staring at you because you are a little different and if anyone is their opinion doesn't matter. Easy for me to say, I have so much respect for people who overcome horrendous things and make the best of what they still have.

All the best to you and yours ;)

Julian, my mum was in the same situation from about your age too - totally effed with severe chronic arthritis followed by several strokes. Get out there, ignore what people say or think, it's your life, make the most of it! She had a better social life than me, even getting my 'only when I am rat-assed do I dance' Dad to take up dancing!

You might already know this one, but if your hands are bad, or have worse days, a rubber belt style jar opener round the zoom ring [ this style ] is easier than trying to grip it - from direct experience of dad doing it so mum could use is fancy new slr back then ;)

PP Sent

I discovered photography a few years back whilst off worksuffering from depression. It really helped me get back out and about facing the world again, and helped me appreciate life again.

All the best Wheels.

Gary

If it's any use, I can send you the Naneu bag in my for sale thread?

I'm loving this good deed stuff. This is my 4th in 3 days.

Let me know and I'll pull the ad.

Fine with that I use the same 2 fingers and thumb on my right hand that I use to type and text.

No problem, I was going to say that I could modify a remote lead to a couple of separate buttons. This is really looking good now...

One good sugestion I have come across is a Manfrotto Super clamp and a Magic Arm to fix the camera to the chair!! Sounds like a solution?

 Just sent a small donation, bit strapped at the moment due to paying the excess for a smash my husband had in MY car. :)

Hope you enjoy the new camera wheels. As the others have said, get out and get snapping. All the best. Lisa :)

I have to say Rob, you're not all that scary at all.:)

I am completely broke but managed to spare a little for a good cause, good to see we are doing so well :)

This is why I am shy and stopped going out a lot, my speech has improved a lot since then but you need to listen carefully and maybe lip read.

Its easier said than done but when you get the camera and accessories, just get out there and enjoy. Life is too short to worry about what narrow minded people think. I'm very honoured to be involved in this and wish you all the best for the future. :)

Soon you'll be able to record your video diary in HD! :)

Does anyone else worry that Robs bank will think he is a terrorist with all these BTs?

I LOVE TP AND THIS THREAD.

Nick.

Your'e a very brave man Julian ... I've just watched your Youtube video and that must have taken huge strength and courage to do.

You should be applauded for your efforts.

There is certainly no need to be shy around other people. Those that are quick to judge based on appearance aren't worth the effort anyway.

Good on you.

I have just emptied my paypal balance to this good cause... it's only a few quid, but every little helps :D

I also have a Ricoh Caplio R2 compact that I can donate... It's a few years old, and only 5mp but takes decent shots. Macro modes is particularly good. Still got box, memory cards, charger, battery, case etc.

Let me know if it's of use. It might not be suitable, but it's yours if you want it.

Cheers,
Daniel

Ladies and gents I can only say I have never ever experienced anything like this in my life. When a mate let me use his compact I was so overwhelmed at that. I feel kinda empty as It doesn't feel real. Never in a million years would I have said something like this was possible. A HUGE THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERY ONE. Its beyond my wildest dreams, the figures I have seen and offers are beyond anything. Thank you seems such an insignificant phrase compared to you lot doing this.

You are welcome friend, happy snapping

Far from brave Simon, I hid myself away once the motorbike accident put me in the wheelchair, and then the stroke really set me back. I became very emotional, this is the 1st time I have cried with happiness. My kids have even come in as they usually do when I cry for no reason. My son who is 10 has just said (Have I forgot how to be happy again?) as those are the words I use when the tears are with sadness. I have just told him no son these tears are for one of the best moments in my life.

As the man who started this thread has done me a great service I can't not chip in.

Heading to paypal now

People like you, who overcome adversity are simply awesome and really are an example that we should all follow in life.

Keep your chin up Julian and enjoy life as best you can, as life is too short not to :)
