OK that's £560 - another £100 and we've got the D5000 and 18-105mm lens in the bag.

For us poor Canon users who are wondering whether this Nikon D5000 thingy is any good, take a gander HERE for the dpreview in-depth test...

I hate to admit it but I think it's a bloody well-specc'd bit of kit! :D

(Goes to wash mouth out with soap) ;)

Si

I feel silly saying this as we have so much money but there's a D5000 in the classifieds

Any spare going to charity works for me.

Nick.

PS: YAY US.

In which case we may go that route and get extra bits for the camera.
That decision will be down to Wheels...once we close this down and collate the donations we can all decide.
This is your money so you all have a say in how it gets spent.

But it will be a Nikon...lol

Ladies and gents I can only say I have never ever experienced anything like this in my life. When a mate let me use his compact I was so overwhelmed at that. I feel kinda empty as It doesn't feel real. Never in a million years would I have said something like this was possible. A HUGE THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERY ONE. Its beyond my wildest dreams, the figures I have seen and offers are beyond anything. Thank you seems such an insignificant phrase compared to you lot doing this.

I'm off to visit my PP account now.

Your gratitude will be measured by your continued support of the Forum and by the Photographs you take...that's all I/we ask in return.
I mean it seriously when I say it's the very least we can do - for my part, that is...

It's been a pleasure chipping in. I hope you enjoy your new toy mate

Rob, I hope you can keep this open till after midnight so at least I can do my bit which could go towards an accessory or something (if you have enough for the camera and glass by then).

I think that IF there is enough we try and get a lens upgrade and go for a D5000 and an 18-200 lens. He said he had difficulty changing lenses well having the 18-200 would avoid that problem and the risk of damaging it changing them. If we have a word with any Nikon contributors like maybe Stuart at Digital Depot maybe he can do a package with the better lens....

You're more than welcome, enjoy what ever you end up with and remember we want to see pictures!

OK that's £720 by all means and future pledges so far.
So we have achieved the target of a New D5000 and 18-105mm kit lens at current retail prices.

Now we have to see what we can squeeze out of our advertisers...:D

Sounds like you've had a rough time recently so you deserve some good times and I'm happy that I could help out in a small way.

I genuinely am in tears, here my wife has just come in the bedroom thinking I was ill. She has just read most of this and she is as stuck with a lump in her throat also.

That's what forums are for (no not for putting a tear in your eye), whether it's a good day or bad it's somewhere you can check in see whats going on and see whats going on, an online version of "Cheers"!

People have there ups and downs and run ins but at the end of the day it's a good bunch in here and always a helping hand around :D

Enjoy the new toy :D

Hey Wheels everyone deserves a good day once in a while, It seems you have had your share of bad ones so it was about time eh ?
