Donations required - member needs help (part 2)

Hi Andy,

Please don't think my post was in relation to yours; i hadn't seen it when i was compiling mine.

I posted that because i sensed the enormity of how this wonderful gesture must seem to Julian and his family and know that all of the suggestions for publicity have only been made with the best of intentions.

For me, the fact that i have been able to help is the end of the matter; no media publicity could ever improve upon the warm feelings that i have knowing that the members here are a great bunch of people who have been willing to help a fellow member in a time of need.

Kind regards,

Tracey

Hi Tracey,
no problem at all

I feel the same as you, and although I didn't donate as much as I'd have liked to, I still feel very proud to be part of this gesture.

I just feel as though TP and it's members (especially Rob) should get a bit of recognition for this uttely amazing event.
I've seriously never seen anything like it.......

If nothing else comes up I've got a very tatty, but serviceable, large orange peli case in the garage. It's got no inserts but I'm sure someone can find something. I'll check the size later.

Mike

That would be brilliant, they are quite expensive new but we really don't need a new one just for the case. The money is better spent on other things. I can get the foam cut to size at "Holmes for Foam" in Leyland and should cost about £20 ish If you can let us have the model that would be very helpful....

I remember when I was putting together the computer for Jade on here and getting lots of donations that that was really great BUT this is amazing. We started out just trying to get a camera, then a D5000 with kit lens and now a complete outfit based around a professional body and a very nice lens with all the extras that Wheels needs to make it as easy as possible for him to take pictures.

Oh and with this setup he can take videos too

Bloody amazing! Well done everybody! Julian, you've truly touched the hearts of so many on here, mate. Really hope you enjoy using your new gear and remember how much you're loved by everyone. :)

Damn, people are good eggs. :notworthy:

It was £1618 but im hoping to get a nice contribution from Nikon on the SB600 so am just waiting to hear back.

When do you think this will all be sorted and delivery can take place?

Stuart

Depends on when I can release the funds:
PP verification codes still haven't appeared either in my bank account or online card statements...

Stats:
so far 209 donations via PP (several have donated twice now) and about 30 via BT...

Well done everyone, but looking at the Forum stats that's still a LOT of people who're not getting involved, considering we had over 2,000 visitors to the Forum yesterday and over 900 this morning already...

its 239ish more than I ever would have thought of
:thankyou::runaway:

It's a peli 1550 in bright orange. The waterproof seal is missing and there's a couple of holes where I riveted a support into the lid but other than that it's structurally sound.

Just wanted to add my little bit as well.
Was at work and unable to access PP during the week.

Can't believe that I am 'buying' some Nikon gear - but this is for a great cause......

(In fact, use my cash for the Clamp / Batteries/ leads/ anything that doesn't have Nikon on it )

I think Rob needs to be nominated for a Bob Geldof-esque style award for fundraising. I haven't been this gripped in watching donations rise since Live Aid!

Spooks

You've also been a bloody star in all this

It took a week for me and there was no bank holiday in the middle!

It is realistically going to be a couple of weeks. We need to get foam cut, get the freebies delivered etc etc.

I could do with one of the clamps and arms asap plus the screen, lead and battery so that I can hook everything up and see if we need any other brackets etc. I am off wed/thur next week so if we can get the stuff to me by then I can go round and hook them up to try each side. I don't want the main hand over of stuff to involve "Oh it will do this and that but we can't at the moment as we need a clamp here or something there"

I can use my D700 in the setup to test it so the rest of the camera equipment can be delivered by Stuart for the big hand over but all the metal work etc etc could do with being with me first.

I see him more as a Terry Wogan figure leading a forumathon.

Everyone has, look at the donations! The credits would be very long indeed, we have members like Rob who's idea it was, Richard (OneTen) giving us an arm for the flash, Mike Jackson offering a Peli Case, Mattyh offering a web site, Stuart from DigitalDepot sorting out the main course at a price that hurts, Manfrotto's importers donating one of the arms and clamps, Woblee locating the screen, lead and battery at the right price.

We have donations from people all over the place. It is fantastic, I'm just playing my part and enjoying it too.

It's the time taken to setup a direct debit etc for the verification that slows it down.
You can still do a transfer even if it's not verified (I did it last week) yo just can't complain if you get the account details wrong.

BTW, I don't frequent this section of the Forum so only saw this today, and there may be others that don't so we could be missing out on a good few donations. Is there a way of broadening the reach?

And...

There's a few regulars on the forum of restricted mobility who may be able to offer some input into the best way to rig it all up???

Christ, I hope not - that'll really screw things up...

I had a problem sorting mine out when I set it up, there is a number you can call for help, maybe it's worth giving them a ring to try to push things forward.

Oh and, another top up on it's way from me

That would be fantastic indeed, the idea is to protect everything which that would do. We can get a new seal and foam ! If I PM my address can you send it or are you nearby.

Darren, could you do some housekeeping on your PMs mate :D

I'm down in Hastings so I'll stick it in the post.

The first DD was allegedly sent on the 26th, subsequent ones to my cards were sent on the 28th: all of those should show immediately.

My limit was reached last week due to all the kit I've been sourcing off ebay lately.
The latest purchase of a 2nd-hand D3 tipped it over the edge and that's what flagged up the verification - adding 200 small credits flagged it up to the money-laundering software so it's all on hold now...three seperate verification notices that cannot be resolved til I get the codes from HSBC - and nothing's showing there til Tuesday now by the look of things...

Something on the Home page, perhaps?
Seriously 250 or so donations from a pool of nearly 3,000 isn't good enough IMO...c'mon slackers, you know who you are...

Update...

Dangermouse1964 has now donated a cable release and we have a peli case on route to me too from Mike Jackson.

:nono: I think you all have done enough and we are at a the peak.

Not a problem Julian, it will serve your needs perfect as it has a simple two stage shutter as most do but also for the longer exposure the button slides forward to lock very light action and if I find anything else usefull I will PM Darren:thumbs:

It's a start, then there's the users like me that have a bookmarks straight to the forum. Can we do a banner / sticky?

Anyone who tweets / blogs could spread the word too.

..... a hoist clips onto the chair and lifts it via a motorised arm and stores it in the back of the zafira. This has come about since my wife has broken her foot using the ramps we are using currently.

morning Julian.........well that sounds sorted..

sorry to learn about the broken foot, Mrs J ... hope all ok now

Rob I had to wait 4 days last week for my verification codes to go into my bank..... so much for their 2 days policy lol

Wow this has really moved on since I went out yesterday afternoon, fantastic financial and community response, I wish there was more that I could do to help with the practical stuff, if you can think of anything please let me know.

She still gets the odd pains from it, and reminds me about it every time she puts chariot in the car:shrug:

Don't worry. We'll soon have enough money in the pot for a new one.

Any preference? Russian or Filipino?
