I can understand Julian being flabbergasted by this thread, but does anyone else feel as overwhelmed as I do about the generosity of the members of this forum ?

WELL DONE EVERYONE !!!

There - said it (and got onto thread 2) :D

Night all,
Daniel.

Morning everyone, carry on the good work. I'm off to Belfast with the family for the weekend and won't have internet access so I'm going to be missing all the fun. Hope it carries on in the same vein.

Cheers

Andy

I'm up for contacting my local newspaper about this AMAZING gesture.

Unless anyone objects?

Truly amazing, Im on holiday next week and my phone will be hammered keeping up with this.

Hi everyone,

I have been following the thread from the beginning and have contributed. I am also overwhelmed by the generosity shown and am delighted for Julian.

I have noticed an increased number of threads concerning contacting the media of one kind or another and would just feel more comfortable knowing Julian himself is happy with this; let us all remember that Julian has said it took enormous courage to start to want to meet people again.

Please don't think i am any kind of spoilsport but i would not like our very obvious enthusiasm to help Julian to impose any kind of publicity onto Julian and his family that he might not be comfortable with but feel obligated to accommodate.

Kind regards,

Tracey

I couldn't agree more.

my thoughts exactly

Darren...just a point to check with Julian.

I put various designs of wheelchairs into my taxi - some are awkward

I gather a new car is coming soon - will all these bits being added cause any difficulty loading the wheelchair up [ i presume ] a loading ramp..?

Morning, the new car is due to have a hoist fitted in the boot, once I have been transferred into the passenger seat, the wheelchair will be taken to the rear of the car and a hoist clips onto the chair and lifts it via a motorised arm and stores it in the back of the zafira. This has come about since my wife has broken her foot using the ramps we are using currently.

Hey Julian and everyone at TP. Have a lovely day. I'm unable to watch the thread today, so good luck with more donations. :)

Totally agree.
I wouldn't dream of doing it if ANYBODY objected.

Just thought the wonderful people of TP deserve a bit of credit for doing this.

Hi Andy,

Please don't think my post was in relation to yours; i hadn't seen it when i was compiling mine.

I posted that because i sensed the enormity of how this wonderful gesture must seem to Julian and his family and know that all of the suggestions for publicity have only been made with the best of intentions.

For me, the fact that i have been able to help is the end of the matter; no media publicity could ever improve upon the warm feelings that i have knowing that the members here are a great bunch of people who have been willing to help a fellow member in a time of need.

Kind regards,

Tracey

I have been giving this A LOT of thought over night, I know it has been said I was on sky news early last year regarding the bomb, that was before my stroke, I look and sound a million times different than then.

I on one hand would love you all to get the recognition for what you have achieved, as it is truly an amazing story what each and everyone involved has done or is doing. And if it wasn't me sat at the receiving end of this, I would also think it would be an amazing idea to get this story out to show that in this sad day and age where very little good news seems to be published/broadcast out come you guys the real heroes of this.

With the way I look and speak I am already embarrassed of myself and as I have said it is only recently I have started going out for trips with my carer, whilst my wife has a break from me. I am also embarrassed at the attention that I seem to have attracted in what is a fascinating couple of threads.

I do how ever have to admit the thought of press getting involved fills me with a lot of anxiety and I also do not wish to upset anyone of the hundreds of you that have made this happen.

Would you mind if I didn't do a press thing please?

Thanks for sharing your views Julian; i know none of us would want to involve you and your family in anything which causes any kind of anxiety.

The photo's you share will be ample reward enough for us!

C'mon everyone that has some time at the weekend. (taps screen and shouts Yes, That means you!) :)

Let's get a few more pennies in the kitty so we can treat Mrs Wheels and the little Wheelers to a great day out.

Would you mind if I didn't do a press thing please?

Not in the slightest, as Tracey (far more eloquently) said, the generosity is its own reward!

This is a no strings attached donation of many keen photographers who have realised just how lucky they are to another keen togger who's been having a bit of a rough time. Enjoy it in whatever way you choose (just make sure we see the pics :D)

Apologies to all - had to go 'off-grid' last night...

Total this morning stands at £2393...

Blimey

I love this forum! :1st::clap:

p.s. Anyone manage to get anywhere with the metal fabrication?

p.s. Anyone manage to get anywhere with the metal fabrication?

Manfrotto are donating an arm and clamp from their range. This should replace the need for the fabrication (I hope) for one side and we will buy the one for the other side (for the screen). OneTen has donated a second arm thing which will do the flash and we will need one of FITP's stroboclamps for the top. If there is any fabrication needed after that then it will be minor in comparison.

I am hoping we need a new smiley Julian because you mean a happy, tearful face!:)

Fantastic news on the new total and isn't it just wonderful how the suppliers and manufacturers are donating items which will free the money up for Julian's family treat!:clap::clap:

Good quality cable remote for D300s
Why not go for an RF-602 Tx/Rx kit? Cheap, reliable, does the job great on my D300s (and will double up as a flash trigger if he can convince his carer to be a Voice Activated Lightstand ;)). Or, if he needs a little more versatility, something like the MC-36R?

Right, I'm off to go catch my train.

Have a good bank holiday weekend folks, especially you Julian! See you Tuesday.

If nothing else comes up I've got a very tatty, but serviceable, large orange peli case in the garage. It's got no inserts but I'm sure someone can find something. I'll check the size later.

Mike

 Great effort from everyone and hope Wheels enjoys his new toys.

Small donation from me sent through paypal.

Stats:
so far 209 donations via PP (several have donated twice now) and about 30 via BT...

Well done everyone, but looking at the Forum stats that's still a LOT of people who're not getting involved, considering we had over 2,000 visitors to the Forum yesterday and over 900 this morning already...
