Morning all,

Last night I dropped my beloved kindle fire and cracked the screen [emoji24] It’s significant enough to be detrimental when reading and, as they’re currently reduced on Amazon, a new one is cheaper than a screen repair.

So, my question this morning is does anyone know of any charities that recycle damaged devices?

I found plenty of articles online telling me that they are out there and some charities can repair at cost and some strip them down and re-use the parts to repair other devices but nothing told me which specific organisations.

I’m not aware of such a charity myself but I know at my local large recycling centre they have a 'community' of people who will attempt to repair items and donate them to worthy causes as appropriate.

I was disposing of a bicycle there one day and was told it would be repaired and given to charity, I suspect it would extend mainly to mechanical items etc though as iPads, tellys and phones etc simply aren’t designed to be repaired at all these days.

I'd certainly be calling specific charities before leaving it with some guy at the tip who may have it on eBay before days end.

Sell it on ebay and donate the proceeds to charity

They would usually reply back and send you a MyHermes pre-paid label so you can package the device and send it across :)

That’s handy, thanks guys, I’ll get in touch with them tomorrow. It seems a shame just to waste it when mechanically it’s sound
