Hi folks,

I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction here, to cut a long story short, I had owned a domain about 5 years ago for about 2 years then let it expire. Someone else bought the domain name and now I would like to have it again.

I got in touch with 'Crazy Domains' as it's their page comes up when I go to said webpage. They let me know the email address of the person who owns it and then I emailed him directly to see if I could buy it from him.

He told me it was bought for his son for university a few years ago but no longer needs it and just asked me to tell him what to do and he will get it back to me... that's about as far as I got. I'm not great with this side of things and I'm honestly not ure how I go about arranging this to be transferred back to me, can anyone help?

I am assuming it is a .co.uk domain?

You would need an account with a domain registrar to transfer the domain into, my own personal choice for .co.uk domain names is UK Reg

Once you have an account set up with a domain registrar you would follow the process for transferring a domain in.

Once the domain name has been transferred into your account you would then need to change the ownership details of the domain name

Sorry this is a bit generic its just that whilst the process is similar across registrars each registrar will have there own way of going about things to achieve the same end result

I had this done a couple of years ago, A co.uk domain name was transferred to me via Nominet, the current domain owner needs to start the process, cost him around a tenner plus vat but if I remember correct there is a option where the fee can be arranged to come from you. You get sent a email asking if you accept the transfer then arrange payment. Nominet were very helpful with the process
