Dogs on Death Row

Totally agree with that, early castration or speying shouldn't be allowed.
Docking is now illegal and yet speying a very young bitch pup isn't and by young I mean at a few weeks old

I had one like that, far better off lead then on

Docking is allowed in certain cases, and my lot would be climbing the walls if they had to be kept on a lead, although i have to say with 5, we don't tend to walk in very public places anyway:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Thats a whole new argument regarding the effects of testosterone
(or lack of ) Verses behavioral problems,
and ultimately control.

Besides if the females on heat, were controlled
or spayed even, (but again thats convenience V Behavior ) there would be no need
for them to be snipped

You do raise a valid point. All responsible pet owners should sterilise their pets, unless they specifically want to have a litter, regardless of gender. I'm just focusing on the males as I've never seen a chav with a female dog. They're always male.

Far better to leave the dogs alone and castrate the chavs.

 Although I'm sure some nimwit will try and argue against this, most probably involving the predicable and ubiquitous accusation that we read the Daily Mail or something equally as moronic.

I have never, save one, had any of my dogs neutered (male or female)
I am a firm believer in allowing the natural chemical balance of the pet remaining.
The one that was done, was done by the rescue home
at a very early age, he was a nightmare (behavioral wise) too ;)
Oh and he wasn't the only rescue dog that I have had BTW, so I do know the
problems associated with "second / third hand" dogs.

Thats a fair point

One word:

"Responsibility"

Wether it be dogs, cars, children or whatever, it is down to owners, guardians to take just that, "responsiblity", for them.

Why? All of our family dogs (all male) have never been "done" and we've never had any unwanted litters in my lifetime (I'm 30). Likewise we've had no behaviour issues or humping etc. I think it's another training point, I.e responding to the owner before anything else?

You need to keep your eyes open a bit more then! I've seen just as many bitches as I have dogs.

4 legged or 2?

:D

Four. I wouldn't dignify the female humans with likening them to canines ( who usually have more class anyway)!

A lot of behavioural issues are down to the fact that what is funny when you have a pup is not when it's an adult dog, talking things like jumping up, humping etc.
Training should start from the day you bring the dog home,.
I don't often have puppies, much prefer adult dogs so yes I have rescues most of the time, and although they can come with problems most can be sorted with a bit of kind consistant attention

I hate dogs that jump up and the owners don't think its bad. and i hate owners that think it's funny when they hump someone's leg etc.

Went to the mil over Xmas and she had her daughters two chiwawas and they're jumping all over people's lap licking faces chewing hands etc. drives me mad. Some domination issues too, the female was humping the male. I was saying are you not going to stop them? And they're going oh that's normal..

You dare mentioning chihuahuas on a thread about dogs? Brave man!

I have had mostly rescue animals all my life, and it has been common practice for at least the last 10 years to have all dogs from larger animal charities neutered before they allow them to go to their new homes. Wish I could disagree with this practice, but see far too many animals turned away when the shelters are full due to the 'we do not destroy any healthy animal' policies :shake:
