Yes
I like on a fairly quiet street where most dog walkers have them off the lead. At least twice a week I leave the house for work to find a new dog turd sitting somewhere on my drive waiting for me.

Its disgusting. I've no idea whos dog it is but i think more than one as the turds vary in size quite a lot!

I did catch one dog once and the owner wasnt the sort of gent you would politely ask to stop it happening again (big skin head, spits a lot, has a staffie etc).

any ideas what i can put down to stop it happening?

A neighbour of mine used to allow his dog to roam, usually on my lawn and though they were rough and confrontational when asked politely, I bided my time.
Collected them all on a shovel over a week or so, then, when there was a nice mound and no witnesses, threw them all over their drive and car. It never, ever happened again.
Their turds! Return to sender!

The only thing you can do is confront the owners.

Put a sign up outside saying "smile, you and your dog are being watched" or confront the owners by zooming outside with your camera as soon as you see it happening, then tell them all evidence is being forwarded to the local authorities.

The least confrontation way might be to stick some bags (empy bread bags or nappy sacks) with a sign at the end of your drive with a notice to the effect that you have no problem about the dog dumping as they have to do it somewhere but the owner must take it away with them - or combine with Dawn's suggestion.

Do you have gates at the end of the drive that you could shut?

I remember years & years ago (30 of them) my dad had the same problem - sohe stuck a sign up stating that he if he found whose dog was crapping on the drive then he would make their owner pick it up by hand

Weirdly enough it seemed to stop - but like I say that was over 30yrs ago - times have changed a hell of a lot now...

No I don't have gates unfortunately.

Our area backs onto a council area that has well known thugs and druggies, going out with my camera would be the best way to get my head caved in or windows smashed.

someone suggested putting chilli powder on my drive but I don't want to harm the dogs.

Could well be a fox!

I get it in my back garden and on my decking....there are no dogs around here!

Part of the problem will be the smell left behind, even after cleaning it up.

Something in a lot of household cleaners will attract dogs to use that area, the best way I can think is o buy the proper odour neutraliser from a pet shop - not sure how much it costs. Of course it's no guaranteed to work either, but it may help.

Side note; as a dog owner I HATE dog owners/walkers who do this!

Are you sure it is a dog and not a fox? Get a webcam and have it monitoring the drive. Only way to find out what's doing the pooping!

Well I've seen a staffie doing it once and have seen other dogs crapping all over the street who are off the lead so I don't think its a fox. I've never seen a fox in my area before either..

Call th council and complain about the crap on the street in general, not just your drive. They should send someone out to monitor it or put up some signs etc.

Wash the drive with bleach, get rid of the xyzdog's been here smell.

Security cameras are very cheap to buy these days, connect one up to a recorder and you'll be able to see what goes on while you are away. If you catch an owner letting their dog do it's business and not cleaning it, print a 'wanted poster' with a picture from the recording and stick it up on your fence for everyone to see.

my neighbours are 300 yards away - bliss! :) I have 4 dogs - not a problem.

Have the same problem sometimes I usually pour some bleach over it and then hose it off, and sprinkle liberally with hot chilli or curry powder. Works because it erases all scents plus any mutts not going to want to sniff around that lot for very long.

Fox poo is small in comparison to dog poo, his sounds like dog.

the chilli powder thing is along the right lines but is for a different problem. some dogs develop a habit of eating their faeces, putting chilli powder on it is supposed to deter them from eating it, it won't deter the dogs from the area though. Bleaching the driveway should work but im not sure about whether you could be reported for environmental issues because the bleach will run down into the storm drains

I use the chilli powder on the basis that dogs seem to develop a habit of crapping in the same areas, and to do this they usually have good sniff around before they crap. Sniffing chilli powder is going to give them a very negative memory of the area and hopefully stay well clear in future.

I had a similar problem with both dogs and foxes and also the foxes ripping open the rubbish sacks before the dustmen collected them.

I now use Jeyes Fluid. Once a week, when I put the bags out for the dustmen, I put a few capfulls of Jeyes in a watering can and then sprinkle it on the bags and the drive.

Never had a problem since.

A chap from the council suggested I just pour a bit of neat bleach on the bags as the dustmen all wear gloves so it wouldn't harm them etc but I found the Jeyes Fluid works best.

Yeah no to the camera confrontation, thats just going to cost you a camera.

Face to face polite confrontation is the only real way to stop it, firm but controlled.

I will admit to my niece (who lived with me) taking my dog to the shops with her one day and yes he crapped on the same drive he always did (cos the foxes did) but she didn't have a bag so she went to carry on to the shops where she knew she would be getting one, the guy came haring out and shoved a camera in her face, started threatening and screaming at her whilst refusing to listen to her explanation.

Suffice to say within 30 seconds of her coming through the door in tears they guy had his camera removed from him, the pics deleted and a very terse warning not to act so viciously towards a child again.
We always clear up after our dog..not all kids are bad

Amonia and chilli powder, won't harm the dogs will just make them want to move on v quickly. Or, get an ultrasonic dog detterrer.

I don't think ammonia is such a good idea, though, as it is the same as stale urine, and can encourage dogs to 'mark' their territory. Something really scented (and to the dog's nose poncey) like lavender oil would be better.

We have the same around here except that the people pick up the pooh in a dog bag then they chuck it in the bushes, some of these bags are not decomposable and we have nice little packets of pink and blue etc hanging on and around the trees

Becasue we live on a farm they think it is o.k. to let their dog cr*p when and where it likes, the farm is our front drive so to speak.:bang:

Ask for a lion turd from your local zoo and hide it close to your gate, that will stop the dogs entering your drive

Have to say, as much as I love animals, you have to make the environment as uncomfortable as you can for them, so that they just don't want to be there. And put a sign up saying that there is CCTV in place (even if there isn't).

Steve

find out where the dog comes from and go and crap on his drive, I bet he wont do it again......or called the Councils Dog Warden to check out the area around the time you think it may be happening.
