I drive a Diesel Auto Freelander 2 - at present insured only for me as the driver , but am about to ask my Insurers to quote for adding a friend - clean licence driven for some 20 + years . Friend won't be driving that much BUT has a rather lovely little black German Pointer - she's as soft as butter and used to travelling in a vehicle - normally a Ford Transit based ex BBC [ or similar ] canteen van.

Now there's no way I'm having her on my back platform without a dog guard - I don't fancy an emergency stop and Madam flying through the air into me or her owner.

Anyone got a Freelander with a dog guard ?

I really don't fancy going to my main dealer for one. I suspect I need one that's only half height as I would prefer to be able to use the load cover when Madam is not in the car

Suggestions / personal experience welcome

I have them in my d3,d2 and my wife’s Saab. Also had them in an xtrail, focus, and fiesta
They just fit.

You folk are very persuasive :) DO you get cashback from Travall ? :D Looks as if it will be a Travall one once the Insurance is sorted.

Now to try and find someone who will be willing to fit it for me - I can't :(

Thanks everyone for the help

My d3 one is literally two wingnuts to fit. It has two studs which sit in a pre made hole on the side trims and then it has two threaded and hooked bars that loop into the loading hooks on the floor and through the bottom of the guard. Simply screw the the wing nuts onto the bar and it’s fitted.

Not sure if the freelander is the same, but it’s probably similar.

My Volvo one is 2 clips behind the seats and two studs that fit into the cargo net holes in the roof. 2 minutes to fit. I can’t imagine them being hard for the freelander

Thanks for the confidence boost :)

However I still think it will be a job for a man not me ;)

I'm not doing this for a few months yet - December/January - I'm not putting my friend on just before the Insurance is due for renewal - can wait till then

You don't have very limited feeling in your fingers and 2 messed up elbows - BUT I know a man who will help :)
