my first real try at softening facial blemishes, got an old and new comparison, any feedback is welcome

Lol funny photo.
It does kinda, just looks softer focus and has put more emphasis on the in focus areas like top lip and end of the nose which are quite red compared to the rest.
Youve gone over the eyebrow too a bit, looks like sloppy PP.

I'm not so keen on the colour, the softenings ok, although personally I'd have been very tempted to go really hard B+W on the guy, I'll post a version if you like. Wayne

I couldn't resist . My initial comments are that the WB is out so I cooled it down and upped the exposure a bit as the image is a bit dark. I then applied some light skin smoothing and went to work on the eyes which needed brightening and sharpening a bit.
