I've had a search on Google, but haven't come up with anything.

What I would like is a small battery powered fan (like a travel fan) that I could mount on the hot shoe of my camera. This would be great in the hot weather or on poolside.

Has anyone ever come across a product like this?

Cheers,

Dave

I am sure there will be some crazy Japanese company willing to make one for you

Maybe the photographic one who created this

Of all the things you take on holiday with you, you think your DSLR is the best thing you can think of to mount a fan on to by the poolside?

Are you mad? :cuckoo:

What's wrong with just holding the fan?

By poolside I mean at all the British Swimming events I cover. I am a working sports photographer and would certinly not take my camera with me on holiday!

It would not need to be powered by the hot shoe, it would just need to be mounted to the camera somehow. Perhaps on the hot shoe or even on a flash bracket I suppose.

@terryt that is an absolutely fantastic shout!

Working in the heat is a real issue for me. I sweat like Andy Roddick and getting it in my eyes is totally distracting when I have my face pressed up against the camera. Sweat bands help, but a fan would solve the underlying problem, rather than temporarily dealing with the symptoms.

Many thanks,

Dave

I doubt that you'd find anybody selling a hot shoe mounted fan, the potential for injury would just be too great.

Or catching your hair in it!

That cap is VERY geeky, but if needs must, I appreciate you situation is not ideal.

the tube tonight is going to be like an oven! Its 30+ today.

only thing with that fan would be it catching on the hotshoe of the camera when you have it to your eye.

On the plus side if the blades were razor sharp it could be marketed as a time-saving device for photographers who can't get to the barbers :naughty:

Just get a normal fan and a spare hotshoe, glue them together? Probably significantly cheaper than any bespoke version.

i am actually ****in myself laughing at this thread...white van square wheels is nee nawing it's way to you guys...but as Freecom says...just go to poundland and get a pocket fan, then superglue it onto a hotshoe mount, eg an optical slave for a few £...then you have your helicam sorted lol

Why? Let's face it, that's the only way you'd ever be cool with a Canon :D

Your so right there Graham - that thought never crossed my mind ...... Thanks for saving me looking like a right "richard head" & saving me a few quid as well
