Does "Talk Photography" include posting images ...... OK it is narrative and comments as well

I have noticed that quite a few who comment, particularly outside the bird forum never really post any of their images

Can you see from their profile the images that they have posted ...... it would be interesting to see their work

I don't think it's a written requirement that you must..

Thanks "T" .......... obviously sometimes you can look at their Flickr page - but sometimes not - it would just be nice to have a look at images sometimes especially when there are long narrative threads - it helps to find out what subjects the person is interested in and what equipment they use

I get where you are coming from, of course we are all nosy and curious by nature to see what others do/have..

I have my Flickr on my signature but I don't post....but then you need to shoot to post :D

I also do that sometimes, Bill.

I do wonder though why some folk `hide` the exif?

PMSL:D:D.... nope i'm far too nosy to block... i wonder why it is though, very weird, maybe a browser pop up thing??

Tis strange  I can get on my own Flickr.

Nick, turn what on & off?

Whatever you are viewing the forum on Carl.

Sorry, I was going ofr the standard IT department suggestion :D

Thats my facebook!! i know i messed that link up ages ago and now can't remember how to do it lol

Flickr comes up here under some of my messages like the very first one at the top of this page looks like this

....Flickr ( but bold)

Yep, sorry for that, I copied the wrong link. Doh. :$

I'm afraid I'm not really interested in providing critique. Sometimes if I'm bored or interested I'll look at other peoples shots and sometimes I think "WoW" and sometimes I wonder why they bothered... street photography? Why? Please don't answer :D

I'm also not terribly interested in what people on the net think of my photography. I care about family and friends but the turning point on the net for me was several years ago when I posted two gear related shots of dogs on the beach, both taken with a 30mm f1.4 on an APS-C camera, one at f1.4 and one at f8 and someone said that the DoF in the f1.4 shot was too narrow and that in the f8 shot was too deep when I thought both shots were just about as perfect as I'd want them to be. Anyway, in that little moment I realised I didn't care what some random bloke in Ipswich (or anywhere else) said.

I have posted shots many times in the gear threads but usually it's to demonstrate some ability of the kit.

Not your fault i just see that was still on my profile down the left side.... i'll have to either get rid or work out how to re-do lol

Hi "T" - now at least I know it's Tracie, (before I insult you again - sorry!)

Ha yup T no worries.. i answer to anything (within reason):p

It is confusing.. i'll go and have a look and try and un confuse it all

my latest image - to post an image

I've named her "Sally" - she just seems like a Sally - (no offence to anyone - before the usual lot jump in and suggest that I am implying another meaning from it) - she is quite a "clean" pig, (for some reason I don't like the word "sow" or maybe she is too young to be called a sow?)

I rarely post images, although I do have a few on assorted boards here. My main reason is that IMO an 800x533 pixel image can't have anything like the same impact that an A3+ print does but also that I shoot very little worth sharing! I have sporadic bursts of giving critique, not sure why, just that sometimes I have nothing to add to previous comments so don't bother while other times I'm feeling chatty so lob in my tuppenyworth!

Shame really and a reminder that encouragement can do a lot more that criticism :)

but also that I shoot very little worth sharing!

Well going by your little portfolio of Iceland mementoes I can't believe that is true :)

I always try to throw a few images in, good and bad and I am quite happy with any type of comment as I find all such useful, ............... wrong, right, indifferent or whatever ..... they don't really bother me - I have quite a few holiday snaps - it's good to see images in a slightly different setting from LR or whatever.

Anyway - that's what it's all about for me - taking images - posting them on here or if relevant sending them to friends, (they always seem to appreciate them!!), ......... I quite liked the "heavy" C & C on here, (which unfortunately has gone) - it has really helped me to see images in different ways - both from technical and compositional standpoints

@BillN_33 No "you" don't get membership refunded if you don't post images, but obviously we do try and encourage people to share.
Quite a few seem adversed to doing so though, with the "excuse" I'm not good enough"
Well the answer to that is post share and discuss, and you will improve.

The other classic is " people say negative things about my images, even though I know they are good"
The answer to that is grow a pair accept the critique and maybe, just maybe you are not as good as you like to think you are ;)

From the rules and guidelines
Posting photographs
  • That's good, keep doing it!
@Cg_Girl linky works for me Trace

@OldCarlos EXIF TBH I save for web as a ,matter of course before I upload to Flickr
and I suspect that many others do to.
As you know this strips out the majority of the EXIF

Because PS removes it when you save for web.
Can't really see what difference it makes TBH, if a photo is good how it's taken won't change that, if it's rubbish
that won't either and you can always ask the poster.
I rarely look at EXIF

Thanks for the kind words, gramps but the location has to take 90+% of the credit for that set! Even those look a LOT better in big print format, as I think you might have seen up at Ham Wall a few months ago.
